Love the cliffhangers
Revisado: 03-07-25
As usual I really liked this author’s point of view and I agree with his philosophy. Plus it’s a damn fun read.

The theft of the Best Idea in the Universe from Thresia's Intergalactic Bank of Ideas plunges the Discovered Universe into chaos. Earth and Thresia teeter on the brink of war as the race to recover the Best Idea intensifies. Yet in this bizarre Universe, truth proves stranger - and far more perilous - than fiction.

Campy fun, with some hidden gems
Revisado: 01-31-25
I didn’t need space opera sound effects. But overall this was cheesy campy Pythonesque fun. Sorta kinda not lit rpg, but might be the basis of my next cosplay.

Historia
The trade in oil, gas, gems, metals, and rare earth minerals wreaks havoc in Africa. During the years when Brazil, India, China, and the other "emerging markets" have transformed their economies, Africa's resource states remained tethered to the bottom of the industrial supply chain. While Africa accounts for about 30 percent of the world's reserves of hydrocarbons and minerals and 14 percent of the world's population, its share of global manufacturing stood in 2011 exactly where it stood in 2000: at 1 percent.

Learned so much!
Revisado: 08-01-24
I disliked learning there is the dark side of international trade and finance. I liked learning about it and extrapolating explanations about things the Autor did not say. Why do we keep pumping in usd to African countries, why does the inequality and economic hardship still exist in African countries, and why??? This book answers them. It also explained, in plain English, a lot about colonialism that was hinted at in college classes but not clearly elucidated. This book was an easy listen and I highly recommend it.

One big jarring continuity error ruined it for me
Revisado: 06-29-24
Right in the middle of the big battle the sword wielding heroine drops her sword into the ocean, only to instantly pull it out of her scabbard in the next paragraph. Boom! 💥 what!?! Ruined the book. Battle interruptus! I couldn’t get back into it after that.

Historia
Never in my 40 years did I think my new normal would be gluing body parts back onto ghosts and hosting a houseful of dead squatters. Thank God for superglue and a strong stomach. Never thought I’d date the Grim Reaper and that I would be the one to blow it. I mean, how idiotic does one have to be to get dumped by a dude who lives in Hell? Going about business as usual is not usual in any way. No one is who they seem to be...and to be honest, neither am I. What I’d known to be true has turned out to be myth. The angels are frightening, and the demons are hot.

Hilarious! Just as good as part 1. Finally an author who “talks” like real people. This is great light summer reading. I woke my hubby up as I was laughing so hard I choked. Glad I wasn’t drinking something. I would have spewed it all over.

Historia
The world teeters on the brink of destruction. The people who should be saving the Earth ignore Jason Asano's warnings and choose to loot the house as it burns down around them. He lacks the strength to save the world himself, but resolves to do it anyway, impossible be damned. The impossible, in this case, means seizing a power that no mortal should touch. It's a choice from which there is no turning back, and marks Jason's first step into a wider cosmos that he is not yet ready to face. Holding the fate of two worlds in his hands, Jason must decide for himself what home truly means.

Historia
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor. More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore.

I think Dennis is an Aretha Franklin fan.
Revisado: 04-20-23
Chain of Fools!?! Wow, Dennis a master of wordplay and not just of puns, malapropisms, but working in references to some of musics greatest lyrics of all time. Wow. I bow to you, Dennis! Respect!
If you, dear readers, decide to read this book, I hope you get what I just wrote once you read it. This turned out to me my favorite Bobiverse yet. It brings in some deep philosophical questions and even proposes possible answers all in the guise of a fun romp and space war. Whoa not giving much away here. But I liked the juxtaposition and synchronicity of the two co-occurring stories. Also after reading and letting the book digest, the “smaller” story is very reflective of the “galactic” story. So clever!
This book delights me and I’m earmarking it for a slower read in the future. I’m sure I missed a lot of wordplay and I LOVE wordplay

Not that thrilling , narration spoiled it, continuity issues
Revisado: 03-30-23
Continuity issues abound. One really jarring example is when the characters go into the ocean to get clean, but use the same sticky towel to dry off…. Was there no proof reading done in this novel?
Really stupid , stereotyped “I’m ugly” “I’m fat” “I’m too heavy” and I’m putting words in your mouth you didn’t say stuff from the heroine to the hero over and over. And over…. That got really old, really fast, really.
Narrator tries to emphasize in a way that makes me think he’s and old a pervert, just kinda creepy for me, and not in a good way.

Historia
Florence, the 1550s. Lucrezia, third daughter of the grand duke, is comfortable with her obscure place in the palazzo: free to wonder at its treasures, observe its clandestine workings, and to devote herself to her own artistic pursuits. But when her older sister dies on the eve of her wedding, Lucrezia is thrust into the limelight: the duke is quick to request her hand in marriage, and her father just as quick to accept on her behalf. Having barely left girlhood behind, Lucrezia must make her way in a court whose customs are opaque and where her arrival is not universally welcomed.

Narrator was great. Book seemed overstuffed
Revisado: 02-26-23
I enjoyed the story. But not, I think, how some descriptions were over stuffed with words as if the editors told the author that to be published more length was needed. Or maybe the author was overly enamored of James Mitchner’s writing style. If this were a paperback I would have skipped over many pages of extended proselytizing when we readers already believed in the wondrousness of what she was describing.
I do admire the author imagining the story from a blip in history. The plot is entirely plausible.
The best thing about this audiobook was the narrator’s voice.
