Erika: His name is Michael Crist. My boyfriend's older brother is like that scary movie that you peek through your hand to watch. He's handsome, strong, and completely terrifying. The star of his college's basketball team and now gone pro, he's more concerned with the dirt on his shoe than me.

Great story - if you hate women
Revisado: 04-24-24
Not my cup of tea - rape, kinky sex, misogyny, bullying, weak female character. Kept waiting for her to get a backbone. Thankfully it was free. Would have been sad if I paid for this.

Historia
Sages from Cicero to Oprah have told us that forgiveness requires us to let go of negative emotions and that it has a unique power to heal our wounds. In Failures of Forgiveness, Myisha Cherry argues that these beliefs couldn’t be more wrong—and that the ways we think about and use forgiveness, personally and as a society, can often do more harm than good. She presents a new and healthier understanding of forgiveness—one that will give us a better chance to recover from wrongdoing and move toward “radical repair.”

Textbook
Revisado: 01-12-24
I was hoping for more on forgiveness in personal relationships. This seemed more of a textbook and social commentary. Not bad, just not what I expected. I didn’t enjoy the narrator. Her voice was clipped and forceful. It seemed out of context for a book on forgiveness.

Historia
William Waters grew up in a house silenced by tragedy, where his parents could hardly bear to look at him, much less love him—so when he meets the spirited and ambitious Julia Padavano in his freshman year of college, it’s as if the world has lit up around him. With Julia comes her family, as she and her three sisters are inseparable: Sylvie, the family’s dreamer, is happiest with her nose in a book; Cecelia is a free-spirited artist; and Emeline patiently takes care of them all.

Enjoyed the story
Revisado: 11-06-23
Decent story though a little drawn out. The narration is about the worst I’ve heard…made it challenging to finish the book. Her voice is so clipped and cold. It didn’t match the emotion of the characters at all.
