Not one of her best.
Revisado: 12-02-23
Too many cliches with lots of holes. She seemed to be playing the mother and not the smartest woman in the room. Lots of clues with predictable outcomes.

Excellent book
Revisado: 06-25-23
I rarely leave a review but this book portrayed an event in history and the response of a group of people led by one brave individual that sets an example for all of us to follow when we see an injustice occurring. It also portrays the understanding of the people affected by that injustice and their desire to leave it behind when it is over. Very good insight to all sides of this atrocity and how easy it is to get involved and not initially realize your own involvement. Being an “involved” young duly in the 70s, how did I not know this was happening? Great read.

Trying to listen to someone reading a diary with no feeling or emotion was great for sleeping. So sorry I could not stay awake each time I tried to listen.

A little outdated
Revisado: 07-24-22
As a female in a male dominated field, I expected the male bashing. This was more like the sixties but a little over the top. The ending is a little far fetched and disturbing as they involve a child in their plans. Good book though.

In In Order to Live, Yeonmi Park shines a light not just into the darkest corners of life in North Korea, describing the deprivation and deception she endured and which millions of North Korean people continue to endure to this day, but also onto her own most painful and difficult memories. She tells with bravery and dignity for the first time the story of how she and her mother were betrayed and sold into sexual slavery in China and forced to suffer terrible psychological and physical hardship before they finally made their way to Seoul, South Korea - and to freedom.

Historia
It's 1949. When war veteran Aloysius Archer is released from Carderock Prison, he is sent to Poca City on parole with a short list of dos and a much longer list of don'ts: do report regularly to his parole officer, don't go to bars, certainly don't drink alcohol, do get a job - and don't ever associate with loose women. The small town quickly proves more complicated and dangerous than Archer's years serving in the war or his time in jail.

The leader, and soon Alice's greatest ally, is Margery, a smart-talking, self-sufficient woman who's never asked a man's permission for anything.

Historia
Daisy is a girl coming of age in LA in the late '60s, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s 20, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things. Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne.
