Friday wasn't just the end of the week; it was the end of the world. Now all the cities of the world have been transformed, monsters and menaces are the norm, and Ash Wilkerson has to detangle his feelings about his complicated (ahem: failing) relationship with a girl he doesn’t love. Add to this a massive game system involving cards and his desire to rescue the wizard who saved his life, and the apocalypse is a mess. A pleasurable mess, though, because thanks to that wizard, Ash now has a card that gives him xps and bonus rewards for initiating relationships and having sex.

After years of service in the Imperial Expeditionary Force, Jol Rivers has found a tentative home in Littlereach, where he makes a living as a blacksmith. One day, however, a beautiful mage arrives and tells him that he has a mysterious magical power hidden within the items he forges, one that could defeat the malignant forces threatening the Second Empire. She invites him to the Lyceum, an institute for mages where he can develop this power.
