A wonderful book laying out the steps to success at a high level. This title lays out the landmarks to reach so you know you’re going in the direction. Of course, there are steps in between those landmarks that other books can help with. Still, this title is easy to follow and absorb.

This book is required reading for anyone wanting to understand DevOps top to bottom. Most may understand the DevOps to the intersection of collaboration between Development and Operations. However, how that intersection is put into actual practice in a way that can be followed by the reader is an achievement reached by this book. The implementation of DevOps practices is no trivial endeavor. In fact, it is complex that requires a lot of internal organizational coordination but for those that are brave (and smart) enough to take the journey, it yields rewards worthy of the effort. As a cybersecurity professional this book has motivated me to look into automation that I can implement in my part of the supply chain.

I bought the audiobook because I came across the TED talk by Simon Sinek. Just listening to that TED gave me the clarity on how to help launch a business my wife has been wanting to do for a while. After listening to this book it has crystalized in my mind how to start and maintain purpose not just in business but in life. Knowing the why is so powerful because it requires digging deeper within ourselves which is hard in our shallow social media culture. Taking the time to unearth our why is a force multiplier. You can’t help but improve in whatever your endeavor. When you know your why there is no such thing as competition because the why will always be your differentiator. Those who identify with your why will never be in short supply as the final 7 mins of the reading highlights.

Most books tell you all the possible methods of doing something but never tell you which is the BEST method. Rob actually pulls back the cover on building a SaaS business. This book is a true blueprint with additional information for situational differences. While the book has some old references like website examples, the fundamental principles and advice still apply. I’m going to listen to this book again to the strategy for my product.
