I like Ray Bradbury (ref The Twilight Zone) and tried this book at random. It is a story of people- the living vs the dead- written on a 1950s timeless canvas. Illustrated in colorful words, phrases, and images which reach deep into our souls.
I recommend you read this well choreographed presentation with no spoilers to spoil the fun.

CS Lewis book out of the silent planet is a clear example of what lies ahead for mankind in a pre-space age era. He actually describes a space ship far advanced from anything our current technology even imagines as possible for centuries into the future.
At the same time the culture and technology of 1935 is used for everything else in the story.
He uses the the story as a platform for discussing and exploring the self-centered thinking of mankind in stark contrast to a universalist view of the multi cultural (and multi species) care and concern for sentient life. Really brings so many current issues into perspective to protect the diversity of our planet and the amazing diversity of life we have right here.
Also, this book is so interesting for me personally, as it was the very first introduction to the SiFi genre 50 years ago as a pre-teen.
Well worth reading

An informative and liberating analysis of the scientific method

Science Set Free is a carefully written deep dive into the scientific method and the catastrophic effects of the state of the scientific endeavor today having morphed into a dogmatic self-limiting system. The point of the book is the liberation of science from dogmatisms to re-energize the scientific pursuit of knowledge.

The author carefully analyzes the current state of affairs in science as a dogmatic pursuit of materialism that has assumed many untestable principles as facts. These assumptions are then treated as barriers to scientific investigations of the very foundations of science itself.

I urge everyone to read this book with an open mind and true scientific investigative spirit. I think you will become a better scientist in the process.

A retro-sci-fi. Enjoy it wearing glasses circa 1960. From that perspective it’s very advanced technology parallel to 2001 Space Odyssey.

Arthur C Clarke brings us a fanciful tale of the trials and tribulations of building the first space elevator from the perspective of the mid-1900 century. Delightful to read about future technology that was only a distant dream of his time. And the introduction of a ring world now makes much more sense.
Enjoy the ride.

The mystery of time is deep and profound and the author endeavors to communicate this mystery through a deep dive into philosophy, physics, quantum properties, astronomy and religion. He takes time apart into nothingness then puts time back together as fundamental to our personal existence and experience.

Definitely worth reading slowly with breaks to absorb the concepts presented.

I read this 20 years ago and needed the re-read to solidify the foundation books. I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I did.

A long and compelling story of future interplanetary politics and technology. Rooted in strong personalities and a story line close enough to a potential reality that it keeps the reader engaged.
A good read!
