Historia
Young playwright Melina Green has just written a new work inspired by the life of her Elizabethan ancestor Emilia Bassano. But seeing it performed is unlikely, in a theater world where the playing field isn’t level for women. As Melina wonders if she dares risk failure again, her best friend takes the decision out of her hands and submits the play to a festival under a male pseudonym.

brilliant storytelling
Revisado: 11-08-24
An interesting and brilliant view on Shakespeare's writings, women in play writing, and history. I did enjoy both the historical and current story equally. I loved the research that went into this book. The author's note is fascinating and should be read!

funny and sexy just like it says
Revisado: 10-06-24
I enjoyed the story once they got to Italy. It started out kind of slow and took a bit to get into. Overall, I have it three stars. It was funnier than your average romance. I felt it wasn't as engaging or exciting as most of his books. I still enjoyed it as a whole. Usually, I do not like cheating tropes, but this one was both humorous and kind of deserving. I felt for him and didn't get irritated by the cheating.

Historia
Venice, a really long time ago: Three prominent Venetians await their most loathsome and foul dinner guest, the erstwhile envoy from Britain who also happens to be a favorite of the Doge: The rascal-Fool Pocket. This trio of cunning plotters have lured Pocket to a dark dungeon, promising a spirited evening. Their invitation is, of course, bogus. These scoundrels have something far less amusing planned for the man who has consistently foiled their quest for power and wealth. But this Fool is no fool.…

I liked the story but very much disliked the reader. She mispronounced quite a few words and read like it was a children's book. I found it distracting.

horrible, unrealistic
Revisado: 10-03-18
I had high hopes for this book but was horribly disappointed. The problem, solution, and then results were completely unrealistic. It was as if there was an idea for a story, but they didn't know how to end it. So, they made up a bunch of rubbish without good reason. I hated it.

Historia
The Little House books, which chronicled the pioneer adventures of Laura Ingalls Wilder, are among the most beloved books in the American literary canon. Lesser known is the secret, concealed for decades, of how they came to be. Now, best-selling author Susan Wittig Albert reimagines the fascinating story of Laura's daughter, Rose Wilder Lane, an intrepid world traveler and writer who returned to her parents' Ozark farm, Rocky Ridge, in 1928.
