I’ve listened to a fair amount of financial/stocks books and this one so far is my least favorite. The narrator has a bit of a robotic sound to his voice, which was difficult to listen to for lengthy periods. The book’s content was repetitive and I found myself jumping ahead 10 seconds to get through portions of the book. I do feel the book has some good information, but I’d opt to buy this particular book as an actual book to read versus listen to; I’m going to assume that the visual aspect might make things a bit clearer.

I really wanted to like this series but after a valiant effort with book 1, I just couldn’t even get to the middle of the second book. It is overly written...entire chapters feel repetitive and drawn out with no purpose. It feel as if it was written to be turned into a tv show instead of written as a decent piece of fiction. And the whole Greek-gods as parents thing just wasn’t believable. It could have been, but the world just wasn’t imagined with enough depth or development.

The performance of this book is wonderful, and really fits the book. But, it seemed to take an extraordinary amount of time for someone who seems so thoughtful to figure out some basic things about what it means to be a human being whose interest is to live a kind life.

I was really, REALLY looking forward to this story of Mingyur Rinpoche's four (plus)-year walking retreat, but this book only includes about the first month of the retreat. My rating of the book would have been higher had I known that the book focused on his near-death experience within a few weeks of starting the retreat, and what preceded this life-changing event. While this was very enlightening, I was expecting and wanting a review of the entire retreat, as hinted at in the book's description. Now I want to hear about the remainder of his retreat!

This is a wonderful book, with a pleasing reading. And I say this as a self-professed pagan. This book teaches excellent tools for a kinder world view, and for those who identify as Christians, tools to understand how religion *really* fits into the world in a positive, instead of harmful, way.

From the story to the narration, this is an excellent book! It’s given my a whole new appreciation for De Vinci’s art, and his singular genius. This book is a must!

I really wanted to like this book, but I couldn't even finish it. How many chapters must the hero, Niell Torvald, whine incessantly about how no one likes him, how unloved he is, etc. etc. etc. (can't say I blame any of them, but of course it's all in the kid's head, chapter after chapter). The narrator really accentuates The Whine to maximum proportions in the way she perpetuates the "poor me" attitude of Niell. I'm going to read the book instead; I have a feeling it will be much improved.

The solid aspects of nutrition -- the roles of different vitamins and minerals, how the digestive system works, insulin response, etc. -- are great overviews. I'll be listening again and making notes. The USDA official Big Ag slant (fake sweeteners are fine, trust us), is out-of-scope and slanted, in my opinion. Take it or leave it as you wish, just know it's there. There is also a chapter (or two) on exercise, which is definitely out of scope. It's cursory and the course would have been better had this been left out. There are others who approach that body of work much better, and in a course on....exercise.
