Will Wheaton fantastic saves an ok story

I felt that the story was an alright. There was plenty of predictable plot twists from the start. Also the story was almost hours of build up. Wanted to hear more of the battle and less of the teenage angst that plagues the main character Zack. If Will Wheaton was not the narrator and this was not a Cline pop culture overload like ready player one I don't think I would have been inclined to finish the book. It felt like any other teenager sci-fi fighting aliens story, but that being said it references all those storylines throughout the story. Overall if you enjoyed Earnest Clines ready player one then this would be a decent listen if not then do yourself a favor and pass. It is a long build up with a quick and mediocre climax in my opinion.
