Historia
After the killing of a prominent mob lawyer, NYPD homicide detectives Jacob Jackson and Caitlin Grimes start receive chilling, written “rules” for how to commit the perfect murder. "Rule number one for the perfect murder: Evidence is your enemy. Leave none behind." Jackson (Reid Scott) and Grimes (Cobie Smulders) race to find the killer, setting them on a collision course with the city’s crime underbelly, and a perpetrator who seems happy to toy with them. “Rule number two. No crimes of passion. The perfect murder is always business, never pleasure.”

OMG This was so good!!!
Revisado: 03-19-25
Okay, I usually don't like the dramatized productions because the acting is usually so bad. The acting here was seamless, the story is riveting, and the twist at the end just put it over the top. I really couldn't believe it but it made perfect sense. I highly recommend this production. It's so good. I wouldn't mind seeing this as a series. It's so good. Really!!!!

Historia
Jasmyn and King Williams move their family to the planned Black utopia of Liberty, California hoping to find a community of like-minded people, a place where their growing family can thrive. King settles in at once, embracing the Liberty ethos, including the luxe wellness center at the top of the hill, which proves to be the heart of the community. But Jasmyn struggles to find her place. She expected to find liberals and social justice activists striving for racial equality, but Liberty residents seem more focused on booking spa treatments and ignoring the world’s troubles.

Okay book, bad editing
Revisado: 06-13-24
I had to fight my way through the first 10 chapters because nothing happened! All of the information in the first ten chapters could have been condensed into the first 4 chapters. I HATE long expositions. The book starts at chapter 11. I believe Ms. Yoon sent the book to editors who said, "It's not long enough. Add a several more chapters at the beginning." Extremely annoying!
I have been black all of my life and have never heard people use this many swear words. Again, Ms. Yoon sent this book to white editors who said, "You need to have your characters curse a lot more or no one will believe they're really black."
I'm sorry but I laughed at the ending. Predictable and puerile. Really!!! Come on!!! I did like the reasons that King gave for doing what they did.
Ms. Yoon did very well at building suspense starting at chapter 11 although it was a bit predictable at times.
Edit the book one more time. Take out 6 of the first 10 chapters. Delete several of the gratuitous, unnecessary swear words and change the denouement.
I believe Ms. Yoon will be an excellent writer someday and this book was a good start. Good luck.

Fantastic but hard to listen to.
Revisado: 10-31-22
There is a fatal flaw with The Trump Tapes... Having to listen to Trump. It really is torture. He brags, meanders, and makes very little sense. He rarely actually answers a question. He just can't help it. He has never received an honest compliment in his life so he must have learned at age 3 or 4 to just lie and brag or no one would ever say anything nice about him. There IS nothing good to say about Trump. On some level he knows it. Will someone please tell Don that brilliant people NEVER call themselves genius? Will someone tell him that his uncle at MIT was there because he read, studied and did research. It is not in the blood. Trump learned anything he that he knows from television. . His uncle didn't pay anyone to take his entrance exam. The extent of Trump's unmitigated stupidity is incalculable.
Sorry. Look, Bob Woodward is only capable of excellence. This audio book is no exception. However, it should come with instructions to listen in small bits. There should also be a label warning that listening to Trump could make your head explode.

Good story, Bad Reader, I still recommend
Revisado: 05-12-21
This book is very difficult to listen to because this reader often emphasizes phrases unnaturally. It sounds like she is reading cold, without rehearsal. It's very annoying. Her voice is nice, her voices are good enough, but the way she reads isn't the way people speak. Also, it's really obvious that there are words that she is unfamiliar with and has had to practice, but is still not used to saying. Those words jump out every time she reads them. I would advise reading the book not listening. The reader diminishes rather enhances the prose. UPDATE: I finished the book and it was good. I really liked one of the smaller twists at the end and the big twist was GREAT considering what we are going through right now. I, for the most part, got used to the reader. This book would be a much more enjoyable listen if the reader re-records the book. By the end her reading of previously unfamiliar words stop standing out and the reading become a bit more natural. Whether you read or listen, it's a good book!

Historia
Woodward, the number-one international bestselling author of Fear: Trump in the White House, has uncovered the precise moment the president was warned that the Covid-19 epidemic would be the biggest national security threat to his presidency. In dramatic detail, Woodward takes readers into the Oval Office as Trump’s head pops up when he is told in January 2020 that the pandemic could reach the scale of the 1918 Spanish Flu that killed 675,000 Americans.

An Absolute MUST READ
Revisado: 09-20-20
I started this book the same day I finished Michael Cohen's book. "Disloyal" is useful as background and helped me better understand parts of "Rage." Woodward just confirms what we all already know about Donald Trump. Because Trump has the mind of an eight year-old, he holds nothing back. There are no secrets. Bob beautifully organizes and capsulizes it all for us. I didn't finish "Fear." It just seemed like a rehash of every other Trump book, but I don't have enough superlatives to adequately describe "Rage." It's very honest, well researched, fact checked, straight-forward, suspenseful, frightening. It reads like a thriller to me. I think I am about to start it again. It's that good. I do recommend reading Mary Trump's book, "Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World's Most Dangerous Man", "Disloyal", then "Rage" in that order. Each of these three books is riveting and a great read on it's own, but reading them in the above order provides for deeper understanding of all three.

Historia
With his blunt-force fame and the myths he’s propagated about himself, Donald Trump has always moved in a world of gossip barons, crooked lawyers, and porn stars. But when he became the Republican nominee for the presidency in 2016, all of these characters crawled out from the underbelly of Trump’s stardom and stumbled onto the global stage with him. In The Fixers, Joe Palazzolo and Michael Rothfeld have produced a deeply reported and exquisitely drawn portrait of that world, full of secret phone calls, hidden texts, and desperate deals,.

Lame (review updated)
Revisado: 01-18-20
About 10% of this book is about Trump. It should be called "6 Degrees from Donald Trump". I could be in this book because I've seen him on television. Very disappointing! The slim sections that are about DT are very old news we all know about. Very lame! These writers may have won Pulitzers but certainly not for this. The reader is good.
UPDATE: Okay, I admit it. This book is not lame. It is extremely lame! Not only do they write about old news that everyone has known for months, years even, but they repeat the stories, Yes, that's right. They tell the same stories two, possibly three times. I really don't know how many times they repeat the same stories in this book because I finally got fed up and returned the it after the second or possibly third repetition of the Stormy Daniels story. The writers should be ashamed! Maybe the publishers told Palazzolo and Rothfeld that any book about Trump just makes money. I hope that most people who get this book, get it on Audible so that it can be returned.

Reader annoying and book is badly written
Revisado: 12-31-19
Reader is really annoying. Her voice falls with every period. It reminds me way too much of listening to my children when they first learned to read. It is difficult to pay attention to the story. I'm going to try but I'm not sure how much I'll be able to stand. Okay, I gave it about 8 more minutes and returned it.
SO, I forgot to return it but now I'm stuck at home because of COVID-19 and tried to listen again. I tried to just get used to the reader and after a while it didn't bother me so much plus the story was starting get intriguing. Now, to preface my next statement I want to let you know that I am religious. I pray..a lot. The author starts inserting prayer a lot and badly, really badly. I have no problem with a novel organically mentioning prayer but this author just drops it in like a brick on a bowl of pudding. It was obvious within the first few lines of this book that this is a very, very bad writer and has never studied grammar. I was willing to let that go if the story was interesting and suspenseful but the combination of the bad grammar, annoying reader and dropping in "praying'" every few minutes made me literally scream and shut if off. I hope that I can just delete it so that I won't be tempted to listed again because i might have forgotten that this audio book is very, very bad in every possible way.

Late Victorian London. When James Miller, the most respectable of Scottish businessmen, is pulled, dead, from the Thames, his daughter is drawn into an investigation which reveals a whole world of secrets and corruption. Alongside local detective Culley, Catriona’s search for her father’s killer leads all the way to the tragic truth behind the ghostly legend of The Darkwater Bride and the power of her deadly kiss. The Darkwater Bride combines the genres of the Victorian mystery thriller with the equally classic Victorian mode of the ghostly tale.

You've Done It Again
Revisado: 04-15-19
You have again managed to produce an absolutely riveting program. I really loved it. The characters are vividly drawn. I was completely pulled into the dark, wet atmosphere of Victorian London. And more than that, the eternally relevant story is perfect for this moment in 2019.

Revisado: 04-08-19
This performance was truly, deeply horrible! The book was free but I resent waisting one of my free choices on this book.
The acting was so bad that I couldn't get past the first 20 minutes. I knew after the first minute that I was in for some really bad voice acting but, I hoped that the story would compensate. IT DIDN'T. Don't get this audio book...even for free!
