Historia
Relentless phone calls interrupt the peace of a warm August morning in Three Pines. Though the tiny Québec village is impossible to find on any map, someone has managed to track down Armand Gamache, head of homicide at the Sûreté, as he sits with his wife in their back garden. Reine-Marie watches with increasing unease as her husband refuses to pick up, though he clearly knows who is on the other end. When he finally answers, his rage shatters the calm of their quiet Sunday morning.

Missing Gamache
Revisado: 11-02-24
The story is off to a good start but I am disappointed by the narration. Jean Brassard seems to be a fine narrator for a book, but the Gamache series is so much more than a book. It’s like an experience. With each book we revisit Three Pines and all its characters. Previous narrators had unique voices for these characters. It is difficult to listen to the audio with everyone sounding the same. The solution might be to skip the audio and read the book remembering those amazing voice while reading. I miss Gamache…I miss them all!

Fine Ending!
Revisado: 09-06-24
So sad to say goodbye to Maisy but if the series had to end this was the way to go!
Loose ends were tied together and the future was easy to imagine. The familiar narrator was as ever flawless.

Historia
Cloistered takes the listener deep into the hidden world of a traditional Carmelite monastery as it approaches the third Millennium and tells the story of an intense personal journey into and out of an enclosed life of poverty, chastity, and obedience. Finding an apparently perfect world at Akenside Priory, in Northumberland, Catherine trusts herself to a group of twenty silent women, believing she is trusting herself to God. As the beauty and mystery of an ancient way of life enfold her, she surrenders herself wholly to its power, quite unaware of the complexity and dangers that lie ahead.

Unforgettable
Revisado: 04-28-24
Beautifully written and narrated on audio book . This genuine and compelling memoir of Catherine Coldstream's experience in the cloister will stay with me. Am grateful to have listened to this deeply spiritual work that incorporated both psychological and social dimensions to this moving story.
