Very entertaining.
Revisado: 09-07-10
I downloaded this book and then realized that it had come from Audible Kids and not the adult version of Audible. I was disappointed and angry that I had wasted one of my credits on a teen book but felt I owed it to my wallet to listen anyways to get my monies worth. I turned on my IPod with the expectation to hear a Harry Potter-ish type story and suffer through a few hours of listening pain. What I got was fantasy that you are convinced is truth. Each and every character was so realistic and pictured so vividly in my mind. I had come to the point that I envied Bod because his life in the graveyard was so entertaining and exciting. This whole story was utterly enjoyable. I know it's been said of other books before but this is, without doubt, the kind of story you wish you could listen to from start to finish with no breaks. Lastly I would just like to say that this is a rare exception to the rule that the author should never narrate his own book. I could not imagine another narrator reading this story. His voice was melodious, soothing and perfectly suited for this well written novel. I can't wait to read/listen to his other books.

Be THANKFUL this is the abridged version!
Revisado: 09-07-10
I am fascinated with serial killers and have been since I was a teenager. I have read many books on the subject as well as seen all of the movies and documentaries. The Zodiac book and the BTK story were fantastic and Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood" was bone chilling. However, this book had none of the fine writing and storytelling of those previously mentioned. I originally downloaded this over 2 years ago and remembered not being able to get through it due to the repetition of the author and the boring, monotone narration. I decided to give it another try and forced myself to listen to the bitter end. I'm not quite sure how anyone could take a topic as horrific as these serial killings and make it, as a previous reviewer had commented, so "painfully boring", but I now realize that Ann Rule has succeeded in that task. I am just happy for the fact that I downloaded the abridged version and that it is over.

Historia
Quenton Cassidy thought he had left his athletic career far behind as he built a successful professional career in south Florida. But as several personal tragedies and the wear and tear of life began to weigh upon him, he wonders if perhaps he hasn't given up a special part of his life too soon. His return to the world of competitive running is dramatic and revelatory to both the protagonist and the listener, as is his desperate, all-out attempt to make on last Olympic team.

Don't do it!
Revisado: 07-18-10
If you are thinking of purchasing this book and expect it to be about running with many motivational passages about training or racing.... don't do it! If you expect to read a story about an inspirational comeback to make you feel good.... don't do it! If you expect to be entertained with pages full of interesting characters and stories.... don't do it! If you expect to laugh, cry, applaud or anything other than yawn.... don't do it! That being said, if you can't possibly find any other book on which to completely waste a credit.... do it!

Well done!
Revisado: 11-24-07
This was a fantastic listen. I have been involved in the sport of wrestling for over 40 years and this is, by far, the best fictional piece on our sport I have ever read/heard (Yes, even better than Vision Quest!). The technical description of the matches and the preparation for the matches was dead on. Aside from the wrestling the interaction between the characters and the everyday struggles the boys endure are common themes that everyone will be interested in. This is a must read for every wrestling fan and fun for everyone else.
