Intellectually terrifying
Revisado: 08-21-24
I enjoyed the seemingly strange meandering path of the narrative. The ending snuck up on me, but left me with a complete understanding of why this book was written.

Historia
After eighty years of fragile peace, the Architects are back, wreaking havoc as they consume entire planets. In the past, Originator artifacts—vestiges of a long-vanished civilization—could save a world from annihilation. This time, the Architects have discovered a way to circumvent these protective relics. Suddenly, no planet is safe. Facing impending extinction, the Human Colonies are in turmoil. While some believe a unified front is the only way to stop the Architects, others insist humanity should fight alone.

Great second book in the series.
Revisado: 05-21-24
It may not be complete as a standalone work of fiction, but it’s a great steppingstone in the series. I enjoyed the listen more than the first book; the reader seemed to really find her stride. The character development was excellent and I’m excited to get into book three.

Great Read
Revisado: 04-25-24
The reader was very skilled, but I found some of her character voices to be a tad abrasive.

So good!
Revisado: 03-28-24
Every once in a while I come across a book so awesome it makes me regret leaving other inferior books and readers five stars because, while they were great, they just don’t compare. This is one of those books and one of those readers.

Meandering Plot
Revisado: 02-10-24
I listened to 14 out of 24 hours of this book and I am out of patience. The plot is at best meandering sometimes indiscernible. I just keep waiting for something to happen. The main science in this science-fiction novel is geology, which in my opinion, is the least engaging scientific domain. There are interesting concepts discussed in the book, but it is mostly about interpersonal relationships. It is not quite the novel I am looking for.

Disjointed
Revisado: 12-12-23
The story line is disjointed. There are several independent sections of the book that have little to do with the rest of the plot. The transitions are abrupt and underdeveloped. I usually have no problem suspending my disbelief in science-fiction stories, but I could not get on board with some of the assumptions the reader was supposed to accept.

Good Read

The reader was not my favorite, but the characters were developed nicely. The plot was a bit muddled at first, but the ending had me on the edge of my seat. I’m glad I stuck with it.
