Historia
As Fanim war drums beat just outside the city, Empress Anasurimbor Esmenet searches frantically throughout the palace for her missing son, Kelmomas. Meanwhile, and many miles away, Esmenet's husband's Great Ordeal continues its epic march farther north. But in light of dwindling supplies, the Aspect-Emperor's decision to allow his men to consume the flesh of fallen Sranc could have consequences even he couldn't have foreseen.

Narrator is not that bad
Revisado: 10-10-20
Many reviews cite poor pronunciation by the reader. This is a issue, but it isn't terrible. I could still easily follow the story.
This was my favorite in the series since the original trilogy. The "slog" sections of Books 4 and 5 started to feel like a slog. Here the story picks up rapidly. If you enjoyed the Prince of Nothing series, and the other Aspect Emperor books, you will like this. if you're like me and almost stopped at the White Luck Warrior due to the second series not being as good, and poor reviews of the narration, I would say go on. Once you adjust to the new pronunciations it flows fine and this boom has a lot of great moments. Baller's battle scenes are great and you get many. The disperate plots begin to unify. You get some cool philosophical issues.

Excellent overview of recent Saudi history
Revisado: 07-30-14
Would you listen to Inside the Kingdom again? Why?
Most likely not. Despite being a great book, there are of course, so many other histories to read/listen to.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Inside the Kingdom?
Lacey's use of large excerpts from interviews give a human face to story Saudi history. The story he tells of the "Qatif Girl" at the end of the book is particularly poignant.

Historia
Profiled on the front page of the Wall Street Journal, Iranian-born scholar Vali Nasr has become one of America's leading commentators on current events in the Middle East, admired and welcomed by both media and government for his "concise and coherent" analysis (Wall Street Journal). In this "smart, clear and timely" book (Washington Post), Nasr brilliantly dissects the political and theological antagonisms within Islam. He provides a unique and objective understanding of the 1,400-year bitter struggle between Shias and Sunnis, and sheds crucial light on its modern-day consequences—from the nuclear posturing of Iran's President Ahmadinejad to the recent U.S.-enabled shift toward Shia power in Iraq and Hezbollah's continued dominance in Lebanon.

Overview of sectarian dynamics in the region
Revisado: 07-30-14
Would you listen to The Shia Revival again? Why?
Most likely not. I thought this book was a great primer on the history of Shia/Sunni relations in the Gulf, but it is does not put forth any truly unique or original way of viewing the region that I feel needs revisiting. This book is a great primer, but not an exhaustive source of information. I haven't decided to purchase a print copy of this book to use as a reference as I have for other audio books I've listened to.
What did you like best about this story?
Nasr's wide regional scope, and relatively narrow focus (Sunni/Shia relations) allows for a better analysis of regional trends than many other works which tend to focus solely on the history of a single nation or a single war/political event.
Have you listened to any of Fleet Cooper’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, N/A.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, but I love history in general so that's not much of a surprise!
