Fantastic summer read!

It took me a little while to get into this book but after a few chapters it got better and better to where I would clean my house just for an excuse to listen. I loved hearing the viewpoints of various family members, the drama, the plot twists, the dreamy imagery, and the satisfactory ending.

I loved learning about this time period. The story and setting were fascinating, the characters complex. I didn’t know expect all of the twists and turns. I love reading stories with female empowerment.

Fun, whimsical

Even though I was pretty sure I knew what the outcome would be, I enjoyed the journey. I’ve often wondered what like could’ve been like if I had chosen something different, and sometimes regret some things, and it was nice to have that normalized. It was very enjoyable.

I like that even though he's a religious figure, he mostly kept religion out of the book. He heavily promotes the idea of helping others above all else. This is one of those books I want to read every year for a refresh.

The format was a little cheesy to get used to at first but the lessons are incredibly valuable. He touches on so many topics, from day to day choices to how world events occur and why.

I could probably summarize this entire book by saying, "whatever your conscious mind thinks, your subconscious takes as truth and manifests it," but I think all the examples are necessary and I would definitely recommend everyone to read it. I wish I had read it back in high school! Also there are a lot of religious references in there and I've seen people complain on their reviews. As a staunch agnostic, I had the occasional eye roll but it honestly didn't bother me; I got what he was trying to say.

Awful doesn't even begin to describe

I love Kate McKinnon, but this book was painful. Have you ever been sober around a group of drunk people and thought to yourself, what a bunch of idiots? That's how it felt listening to this book. It was hard to listen to, figure out what was going on, and filled with unsophisticated bathroom humor.
