Historia
Folk tales of the Shaolin Temple depict warrior monks with superhuman abilities. Today, dozens of East Asian fighting styles trace their roots back to the Buddhist brawlers of Shaolin, although any quest for the true story soon wanders into a labyrinth of forgeries, secret texts and modern retellings. This new study approaches the martial arts from their origins in military exercises and callisthenics. It examines a rich folklore from old wuxia tales of crime-fighting heroes to modern kung fu movies.

A surprisingly good listen about karate!

What a surprise find! The author’s voice is perfect for this read, and the information is bite-sized and enjoyable, rather than a formal graduate level thesis. Highly recommended.

A backwater planet on the edge of civilized space. And an unlikely place to find a Jedi Master in hiding, or an orphaned infant boy on whose tiny shoulders rests the future of a galaxy.

Unexpected Delight
Revisado: 09-15-16
Similar to the recently published "Bloodlines", this story has less to do with Jedi mystical powers and much to do with a true drama about human interaction. A great listen.

Beyond Entertaining, and Very "Enlightening"
Revisado: 01-08-16
What did you love best about 10% Happier?
First off, the author is also the reader, who is an ABC News correspondent, so the book doesn't sound choppy and if anything, you can appreciate the author's thought process and writing style so much more. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book not only from an entertainment standpoint, but from an informational standpoint. My one "criticism" if any relating to other reviews is that "all you need is to read this book before all others." I disagree. One can't fully appreciate the funny commentary about Tolle and others if you haven't read Tolle's "A New World" and seen him on TV (or heard him speak). Same goes for Deepak Chopra.
