Historia
Tim Marshall's global best seller Prisoners of Geography showed how every nation’s choices are limited by mountains, rivers, seas and concrete. Since then, the geography hasn’t changed. But the world has. In this revelatory new book, Marshall explores 10 regions that are set to shape global politics in a new age of great-power rivalry: Australia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the UK, Greece, Turkey, the Sahel, Ethiopia, Spain and space.

Revisado: 06-15-23
Fascinating, and hope there are many many more, as the world is a big place. Such interesting ways of viewing history and politics through the lens of geography. Narration is great, including wry glints of humor

Historia
By understanding the dramatic story of the Ottoman Empire - from its early years as a collection of raiders and conquerors to its undeniable power in the 15th and 16th centuries to its catastrophic collapse in the wreckage of the First World War - one can better grasp the current complexities of the Middle East. Befitting a story of such epic scope and grandeur, every lecture is a treasure trove of historical insights into the people, events, themes, and locales responsible for shaping the story of this often-overlooked empire.

Fascinating, Could have been better narrated
Revisado: 11-04-17
Very well constructed, but the Prof ummmm a lot, and may perhaps have been better read off by a professional narrator

If you can't do the accent don't
Revisado: 05-02-15
I am South Africa, so I am pretty sure I have a grip on what we sound like, and I have never heard anyone in South Africa, including the African immigrants who speak with the bizarre accents used by the narrator. Would have been far better served, just reading this without the attempt at accents

Historia
The riveting memoirs of the outstanding moral and political leader of our time, Long Walk to Freedom brilliantly recreates the drama of the experiences that helped shape Nelson Mandela's destiny. From his beginning in the Transkei to his being taken to Robben Island, this is the remarkable story of how a man rose so far, only to be sentenced to life imprisonment. Emotive and compelling, this is the story of an epic life.

Poor Narration
Revisado: 04-12-14
This is a great story, by a great man, but it is tremendously annoying that the narrator did not take the time, effort, and courtesy out of respect to author story and listeners, to learn how to pronounce South African vernacular correclty

Historia
This is the most distinguished novel that has come out of South Africa in the 20th century, and it is one of the most important novels of the modern era. Cry, the Beloved Country is in some ways a sad book; it is an indictment of a social system that drives native races into resentment and crime; it is a story of Fate, as inevitable, as relentless, as anything of Thomas Hardy's. Beautifully wrought with high poetic compassion, Cry, the Beloved Country is more than just a story, it is a profound experience of the human spirit.

Narrator a shocker
Revisado: 04-12-14
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I couldn't even listen to the whole book, as the narrators voice was so annoying, and it is insulting to the author, when you don't take the time or effort to learn how to pronounce words from the vernacular of the country correctly
