Historia
I’ve been married to my kind, loving husband Lachlan for over twenty years. He’s my everything. We have two teenage children, a beautiful home and I feel so lucky to live this perfect life. Until my best friend says something that makes me doubt everything… She whispers it’s strange Lachlan has lived nearby to two unsolved murder cases. First, the murder of the woman in the small, Scottish village where he grew up and more recently the shocking death of a woman who lived round the corner from us. The thought makes my head spin. It’s just a coincidence, surely?

Mildly interesting

Not great literature by any stretch. But, entertaining. There aren't really any twists... so there's that disappointment.

Historia
Beth and her gentle, kind husband Frank are happily married, but their relationship relies on the past staying buried. But when Beth’s brother-in-law shoots a dog going after their sheep, Beth doesn’t realize that the gunshot will alter the course of their lives. For the dog belonged to none other than Gabriel Wolfe, the man Beth loved as a teenager—the man who broke her heart years ago. Gabriel has returned to the village with his young son Leo, a boy who reminds Beth very much of her own son, who died in a tragic accident.

It's just another day at the office for book editor Samantha Clair. Checking jacket copy for howlers, wondering how to break it to her star novelist that her latest effort is utterly unpublishable, lunch scheduled with gossipy author Kit Lowell, whose new book will deliciously dish the dirt on the fashion industry. But little does she know how much trouble Kit's book is about to be. Before it even goes to print.

Witty well written...
Revisado: 04-09-25
Laugh out loud funny in parts and always dryly humorous this cozy is a well written and well plotted mystery. It was a refreshing read after a long dry spell of lackluster domestic thrillers ( my usual genre)
Highly recommended.

Weak wife, mean nasty self absorbed hubby. I've read dozens of these domestic thrillers. I wish they would think of a new formula.
Andi Arndt is great as always though.

Historia
When Lydia was a teenager, she made a decision that ruined her family's life. They've spent the last 30 years living with the consequences and doing their best to pretend it never happened. Lydia's husband, the gorgeous and reliable Mark, and her two teenage children know nothing about that summer back in 1982. And that's the way Lydia wants it to stay. The opportunity to come clean is long gone, and now it's not the lie that matters; it's the betrayal of hiding the truth for so long.

Good but...
Revisado: 12-19-24
All of Ms. Fisher's books are great but I cannot let something at the end of the book go unchallenged. I'm in the US where pro life laws are causing the deaths of women so I must speak out.
Possible spoiler:::
Ms. Fisher disappointingly drags out the propaganda that legal medical abortions can cause fertility problems. It is not true! Stop perpetuating this. ILLEGAL abortions are more likely to cause problems but please authors do your research before pushing your agenda on others with false information. Because of this kind of nonsense women in my country are dying. It causes laws to be passed that are harming women.
not to mention that what happened when this woman was 13 was not a secret or a lie but , rather, PRIVATE. It was none of her husband's business nor anyone else's. Sigh. SMH.

Historia
It’s a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the grand Cornwall Inn wearing a green dress and gold heels, not a bag in sight, alone. She's immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she’s actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn’t here for the big event. Phoebe is here because she’s dreamed of coming for years—she hoped to shuck oysters and take sunset sails with her husband, only now she’s here without him, at rock bottom, and determined to have one last decadent splurge on herself.

Read this at a low point...
Revisado: 11-27-24
Suffering some pretty bad depression i was not sure a book about a suicidal person was what i needed. It was. Equal parts light and profound two ppl meet who would never probably become friends under normal circumstances... but they do. I find the character development to be excellent and the humor to be consistent enough to lift the mood when you need it. Overall an amazing read.

Magnificent...
Revisado: 11-21-24
The more times i read this the more i love them. I pick up things i missed bee almost every time. Lizette Marshall is fantastic at flashing out characters that seem so real to me, and I'm a cynical person but she broke through. There are parts of this book i cry, the epic battles are excellent and even the day to day with her new family is enjoyable.
I especially love how she has matured. I love her new powers and Ilyra is a perfect little sidekick. I thought at my age i was immune to sentimental literature but I'm so not!
The one problem it has created is ruining other books in this genre for me. They just cant compare.
I want to address two comments made about it being read by Ms. Robert's ( who is fantastic) in Victorian or old English.
The way it is read is an English cut glass or noble accent. I find it beautiful and fitting. This story doesn't happen in modern times. Having read each book more than.. well I'm embarrassed to say but many times i would say it is maybe 19th century. They are using chamber pots and still using bows and arrows. To me that enhanced the story. I don't like fantasies set in modern times.
This is set in a time of courts AB's royalty so the accent is spot on as it should be.
As frustrating but still wonderful as book two might have been be patient because like most of us Em grows and learns from her mistakes. And the heartbreak of Creon and the cruelty of his childhood .. well, it hits my heart at how much Em loves him. You can feel it leap right off the page or out of the speaker. Bless them both, they both deserve the love they have finally found.
I wish more ppl would try these books. They are just so wonderful. And as good as ACOTAR was, to be this was much much better.
Entire series is a winner. Thank you Ms, Roberts... please give us a few more books with these two lovers. I hate to think they story is over.

Historia
With war looming, Emelin's plan is simple: break the Mother's bindings while her more diplomacy-minded friends persuade the rest of the world to join their rebellion. Unfortunately, their would-be allies are far too concerned about Em's exact connection to the feared and hated Silent Death. They might risk their lives for the world's only unbound mage, but they'll never fight for a fae prince's puppet. Forced to hide the explosive secret of their love, Em and Creon journey to the plague-cursed continent to learn more about the bindings.

Obsessed... but
Revisado: 11-20-24
Absolutely obsessed with this series. I've listened multiple times! I love the narration... HOWEVER... this book Em drives me insane by not sticking up for Creon. And I love Lynn but those Alves.. lol i despise them! Why are they up in her sex life at all? She has a right to just be a young woman. It seems to me there are too many males trying to control her. I get frustrated listening to it but I've listened to the others so many times and I'm smooth in love with Creon. He's definitely the sexiest MMC I've ever read in any fantasy romance. I can't stand the way Tared and family treat him.
I recommend this series to everyone. And, the spice is amazing. If you can get past the controlling behavior of those alves and get to book 4 you be rewarded for your patience.

6 hours in no spice... little steam
Revisado: 10-19-24
Ugh. Well i see most here hot their book free. I spent a precious credit because i thought this would at least have a kiss.
Nothing. Im 6 hours in and its ok... no magic to speak of, a King who can't decide what he wants and a stupid reason to want to kill the MFC.
The steam ? Don't expect much. Spice? So far nothing. If it doesn't pick up I'm going to give up.'
This is after all marketed as romance. And... there is no book after this. Ive wasted many hours and no payout.
Sorry the author but this is a real disappointment. It's actually young adult. Had i seen those glowing reviews were by ppl who got free copies i would not have taken them into account.
Seriously i can wait but the buildup give us SOMETHING besides the " buzz" they both feel.
Sigh....

Stopped when the choking started..
Revisado: 10-17-24
I don't mind lots of spice even kink but the choking creeps me out. It's actually dangerous and i hope no one young reads this tried it and dies.
By the way i have knowledge of this from a doctor and experience its not just me.
After that I just didn't care because i feel like the author didn't care enough to research what kinks are safe and what is actually risky. Hence, the review. At least let ppl know you're going to be cutting off air and squeezing throats with a PSA that its a risky practice. By the way i actually knew a girl that died playing this " game " so... whatever.
