Historia
A psychologist specializing in near-death experiences, Dr. Joanna Lander has spent two years recording the experiences of those who have been declared clinically dead and lived to tell about it. A new doctor has arrived at Mercy General, one with the power to give Joanna the chance to get as close to death as anyone can. Dr. Richard Wright has come up with a way to manufacture the near-death experience using a psychoactive drug. Dr. Wright is convinced that the NDE is a survival mechanism and that if only doctors understood how it worked, they could someday delay the dying process.

Not as good as I remember
Revisado: 09-08-24
I read this book when it first came out. I really don’t remember Joanna as being so, so…well, Stupid and selfish. I’m only 3 hrs in, and don’t know if I’ll finish it.
The reader is fairly monotone, imo. She’s gotten better the further I’ve listened, but that might be because I’ve simply gotten used to her.
I’ll update the story when/if I finish

Summer 1980: Despite the local superstition that the Bendy Man haunts the woods, three girls go into a Minnesota forest. Only one comes out, dead silent, her memory gone. The mystery of the Taken Ones captures the nation. Summer 2022: Cold case detective Van Reed and forensic scientist Harry Steinbeck are assigned a disturbing homicide—a woman buried alive, clutching a heart charm necklace belonging to one of the vanished girls. Van follows her gut. Harry trusts in facts. They’re both desperate to catch a killer before he kills again.

Please hire a Minnesotan narrator.

Good story, but….
Revisado: 10-01-23
First book by both the author and reader..(is that that correct term?)
I liked the story line, lots of twists and turns.
I did not like Van, as a character. I thought she was abrasive and slightly unhinged at times. She did grow as a person, and will perhaps be better in future books.
I thought the reader was mediocre at best..her Minnesota accents sounded like something from Fargo, and I felt her male characters were ‘forced’
I will probably listen to the next book in the series and see how things develop.

Historia
PLAY. Andrew, the manager of Shanamore Cottages, watches his only guest via a hidden camera in her room. One night the unthinkable happens: a shadowy figure emerges on-screen, kills her, and destroys the camera. But who is the murderer? How did they know about the camera? And how will Andrew live with himself? PAUSE. Natalie wishes she'd stayed at home as soon as she arrives in the wintry isolation of Shanamore. There's something creepy about the manager. She wants to leave, but she can't - not until she's found what she's looking for.... REWIND.

Another good tale.
Revisado: 03-23-22
I’ve listened to the authors other books, and really enjoyed them. The jumping back and forth in time is a bit annoying, but once your used to it, it’s not that bad. With this story, you just need to realize that’s the seconds/minutes don’t matter. Not like 56 Days, where the chapter heading did make sense.
I liked the characters I was supposed to, even poor Andrew, and disliked who the ones who needed it. All in all, a good listen

Historia
Once again, the Kingdom of Gwynedd under young King Kelson found itself facing the horror of war between the Church and the Deryni. As the Pretender Queen plotted to free Meara from Gwynedd's control, and the ex-Archbishop hatched a devious plan, it looked like the peace of Gwynedd was to be a thing of the past.

At last in audio, but this narrator isn't the best

Not the best narrator
Revisado: 12-29-19
One of my absolute favorite books growing up. But, the audible version leaves a lot to be desired, IMO. The narrator has a flat, almost monotonous voice, and even mixed up names and voices towards the end.
