I tried hard to like this

I tried really really hard to like this. The level of internal angst was just too boring. I kept thinking, I get it, you’re conflicted, or sad, or lonely or whatever …and move on with the story. The narrator was ok but his “female” voice just sounded ridiculous. Not sure I would listen and/or read this author again.

I have been waiting years it seems for Lassiter’s story. I don’t feel like I know him at all. I expected to understand Lassiter more and his backstory and there was just nothing there. I’m just disappointed in so many ways and as for the end… well…

It seems a set up for a new generation . I’m not sure I will go along for that ride.

Is it just me or do the characters bear a similar feel to Knox & Harper and Harper’s friends? The narrator is not my favorite. It was ok but it just seems to be similar to the Deep in Your Veins series.

This narrator ruined it.

I couldn’t even finish the Audible version. The narration is SO bad I couldn’t concentrate on the story. This makes me sad since he’s narrated so many of the books. I will just stick with the book version and try another book with a different narrator.

Entirely TOO Short!

Where is Osh?!!! I did love that Donovan got his own story and Beep is growing up. I definitely enjoyed the “Marmalade” twist! I do have to say…paying $2.99 for the Kindle version and $11 for the audible version of 3 hours is kinda aggravating but Lorelei King is an amazing narrator and consistently uses the same character voices she has used in the previous books (except for the new pronunciation of Marika in this book!). Beep’s and Osh’s book better be a really LONG story!!! Quentin & Amber, Donovan & Sia were like tiny little appetizers! We need a full meal, Darynda! We are starving!!

Darius deserved a better love

Disappointed is the best description of how I am feeling after finishing Darius. He deserved better than Ann. She was boring and my image of Darius’ personality was completely different than how Ward described him. I think I would rather go with how I have him in my head. The only redeeming part of this book was the last chapter with Beth and you know who. I won’t spoil it for others but it’s the only thing I actually liked about the book. I have been waiting for YEARS for Lassiter’s book. I really hope she does him justice. Overall rating: just a disappointment.

I absolutely think this is one of the best books she has ever written. The narrator also did a fabulous job. I fell in love with Bones all over again. Outstanding!

Did Ward even write this?

This book made no sense. I’m so disappointed. I thought it would be a new chapter but her writing was flat and uninspired. I didn’t care anything about the characters. Xhex doesn’t even seem like the same person award introduced so many books ago. I am holding out for Lassiter’s book and then I think I will be saying goodbye to this author.

It’s a testament to how much I enjoy Suzanne Wright’s books to suffer through the narration. I love her books but this specific narrator is like nails on a chalkboard. If she narrates any more of these books i will have to go back to reading them.
