Excellent narration and good story. Character development wasn't quite as good as I usually expect from Mr King. He is usually the best I've ever read in that respect.

Historia
Since his wife died, Ralph Roberts has been having trouble sleeping. Each night he wakes up a bit earlier until he's barely sleeping at all. During his late-night walks, he observes some strange things going on in Derry, Maine. He sees colored ribbons streaming from people's heads, two strange little men wandering around town after dark, and more. He begins to suspect that these visions are something more than hallucinations brought on by lack of sleep.

A little difficult to hear
Revisado: 11-22-23
Narrator's voice could stand to be a little clearer and it was mostly made worse at times, by the overly load and somewhat annoying background music.

Hardly anyone ever leaves Des Moines, Iowa. But Bill Bryson did, and after 10 years in England he decided to go home, to a foreign country. In an ageing Chevrolet Chevette, he drove nearly 14,000 miles through 38 states to compile this hilarious and perceptive state-of-the-nation report on small-town America.

Excellent
Revisado: 03-14-23
Excellent writing, just as I expect from Bill Bryson. I really enjoy his humor and style. And as much as I like listening to the author narrate their own books, Mr Roberts has to be just about the best narrator I've ever listened to in the hundreds of audio books I've heard over the years.

Just plain wrong!
Revisado: 10-26-22
I couldn't finish it. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of good information in these lectures. But at times, because of her manner of speaking, I felt like I was listening in on a third grade science class. Many of her analogies miss the mark and some information is just plain wrong. Evaporative cooling occurs due to latent heat, not because warm molecules evaporate and leave cooler ones behind, LOL. And for the record, sound travels FARTHER under water silly girl. I realize she thinks she's smart because of her PhD. But teaching without researching is NOT smart at all! I'm glad this one was free...

Historia
For centuries, the Vikings have swept out of the Norse countries and fallen on whatever lands they could reach aboard their longships, and few could resist the power of their violent onslaught. They came at first to plunder and then to settle, an encroachment fiercely resisted wherever they went. Such was the case in the southern lands of Ireland. En route to the Viking longphort there, known as Dubh-linn, Thorgrim Night Wolf and Ornolf the Restless stumble across an Irish ship.

The fascinating science and history of the air we breathe. It's invisible. It's ever present. Without it, you would die in minutes. And it has an epic story to tell. In Caesar's Last Breath, New York Times best-selling author Sam Kean takes us on a journey through the periodic table, around the globe, and across time to tell the story of the air we breathe, which, it turns out, is also the story of earth and our existence on it.
