Historia
Part memoir, part history, Burn Book is a necessary chronicle of tech’s most powerful players. This is the inside story we’ve all been waiting for about modern Silicon Valley and the biggest boom in wealth creation in the history of the world. When tech titans crowed that they would “move fast and break things,” Kara Swisher was moving faster and breaking news. While covering the explosion of the digital sector in the early 1990s, she developed a long track record of digging up and reporting the facts about this new world order.

Tech Love Story Indeed
Revisado: 03-07-25
I started reading this, not knowing what to expect. I respect Kara Swisher a lot and I loved all of the insights and connections made in this book. I grew up during the era of early tech in the 90s and remember all the different services referenced in this book. I learned a lot from Swisher’s approach to life and will keep living in the present in mind going forward. I love technology and depend on it for so much. But this book taught me to continue to use it with caution even as I am amazed by how far we come. Also, this confirms why tech bros don’t have a place in running the government.

Historia
Everyone from Wakarusa, Indiana, remembers the infamous case of January Jacobs, who was discovered in a ditch hours after her family awoke to find her gone. Margot Davies was six at the time, the same age as January—and they were next-door neighbors. In the twenty years since, Margot has grown up, moved away, and become a big-city journalist. But she’s always been haunted by the feeling that it could’ve been her. And the worst part is, January’s killer has never been brought to justice.

Good story
Revisado: 05-23-24
I liked the story a lot. The only thing that bugged me was that Margo’s ending was left a little up in the air. I can assume what happened. But it still let down all of the creative story building leading up to the end.

Loved it!
Revisado: 01-16-24
I stumbled upon this podcast searching for something to listen to between books. It was sweet, funny, and very entertaining. It’s a quick listen that comes full circle by the end. Highly recommend!

Historia
Detective Angie Pallorino hasn't forgotten the violent rapist who left a distinctive calling card—crosses etched into the flesh of his victim's foreheads. When a comatose Jane Doe is found in a local cemetery, sexually assaulted, mutilated, and nearly drowned, Angie is struck by the eerie similarities to her earlier unsolved rapes. Could he be back?

Good story
Revisado: 02-23-19
I like this book. It took me awhile to get through it because the story took a little while to hit its stride. The narrator also factored into this. I typically have no issues whatsoever with narrators. But this one took time to get used to. I finished the second half in a few days. Love the character of Angie. She’s very complex and flawed yet tough and someone you want to root for.
