Historia
Alice Scott is an eternal optimist still dreaming of her big writing break. Hayden Anderson is a Pulitzer-prize winning human thundercloud. And they’re both on balmy Little Crescent Island for the same reason: To write the biography of a woman no one has seen in years—or at least to meet with the octogenarian who claims to be the Margaret Ives. Tragic heiress, former tabloid princess, and daughter of one of the most storied (and scandalous) families of the 20th Century.

Predictable but delicious
Revisado: 04-30-25
Great story within a story. A fun read and delectable love story. Not the typical girl-meets-guy, they are arch enemies, tensions reach a peak, have sex, fight and ultimately get together. The connection isn’t the most convincing here but it remains a solid and interesting story.

Historia
Alex Miller is a criminal defense lawyer leading the life he always imagined. At thirty-five, he is the youngest partner at New York City's most prestigious law firm, with a beautiful wife and a perfect daughter. When Alex's father suddenly passes away, Alex is introduced to Michael Ohlig, a rich and powerful man who holds an almost mythical place in his family lore. But Alex is surprised when Ohlig admits that he's in serious legal trouble, accused of crimes involving hundreds of millions of dollars.

A most unthrilling "thriller."

Predictable

Is there anything you would change about this book?
Move the few plot twists further up. About 1/2 to 3/4 way, I almost stepped away entirely.
What was most disappointing about Adam Mitzner’s story?
Predictable
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
Yes
Do you think A Conflict of Interest needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No!
Any additional comments?
if you want a story that is easy to follow, this is fine. If your'e hoping for more - or any, really - intrigue, find something else.
