Historia
Only mutual communication can forge an alliance with the planet's sentient species and prove that mammals are more than tools. Forced to land on a planet they aren't prepared for, human colonists rely on their limited resources to survive. The planet provides a lush but inexplicable landscape—trees offer edible, addictive fruit one day and poison the next, while the ruins of an alien race are found entwined in the roots of a strange plant. Conflicts between generations arise as they struggle to understand one another and grapple with an unknowable alien intellect.

Smart and Emotional

Really smart interesting idea that is tightly constructed and beautifully written and performed. I really enjoyed the variety of subplots and the overall story benefits greatly from its smaller parts.

Historia
At once a powerful evocation of his early life in Harlem and a disturbing examination of the consequences of racial injustice to both the individual and the body politic, James Baldwin galvanized the nation in the early days of the civil rights movement with this eloquent manifesto. The Fire Next Time stands as one of the essential works of our literature.

An amazing and different take on the thevblack experience. with of a middle road that offers the love of MLK with the fervor of Malcolm X without making harsh criticism of either.

I really like this book.
Revisado: 02-13-18
I really love this book and the world that it created. I thought all of the characters were interesting and deep and even though it's switched between it least five different points of view throughout the novel I didn't find it hard to follow at all. Andrew's performance was really top-notch each of the characters felt different. My only complaint was with how one of the characters was written near the end of the book. I felt like it made his character Arc less important, but you should still read it and I highly recommend this book.

Words on the Move opens our eyes to the surprising backstories to the words and expressions we use every day. Did you know that silly once meant "blessed"? Or that ought was the original past tense of owe? Or that the suffix -ly in adverbs is actually a remnant of the word like? And have you ever wondered why some people from New Orleans sound as if they come from Brooklyn?

Interesting and enjoyable.

this is an incredibly interesting book about the way our language has changed and it also gave me a great defense for why I don't care for Shakespeare while I love Audible and do a lot of my reading here this is the first book that I can probably say that I wouldn't have enjoyed as much printed hearing the authors say all of the esoteric and archaic words that he brings up is much better for comprehension in my opinion

Historia
In this explosive new book, Sam Harris tears down the wall between scientific facts and human values, arguing that most people are simply mistaken about the relationship between morality and the rest of human knowledge. Harris urges us to think about morality in terms of human and animal well-being, viewing the experiences of conscious creatures as peaks and valleys on a "moral landscape".

Fantastic, but...
Revisado: 11-13-17
First of all, I enjoyed this book and thought that Sam made an excellent case for reason-based morality. The first few chapters where he lays out his thinking for the moral landscape and talks about the philosophical debate between Deontology and Consequentialism was extremely interesting and I would have been 100 percent satisfied if the book continued this way and he had made more of a case against Deontology, but that didn't happen. He instead decides to make a case that religious morality is flawed and superseded by reason. This is all well and good but it was the better part of the second half of the book. Instead of throwing his intellectual weight against Kant he throws it against religion yet again. I think his arguments were good and think that if he had split the second half between the railing against religion and dismantling Kant's Deontology the book would have been better off for it and I would have given it 5 stars. All so he is a great speaker and he did his book justice with his performance. AUDIBLE 20 REVIEW SWEEPSTAKES ENTRY

Nothing ever changes in Sanders. The town's still got a video store, for God's sake. So why doesn't Eli Teague want to leave? Not that he'd ever admit it, but maybe he's been waiting - waiting for the traveler to come back. The one who's roared into his life twice before, pausing just long enough to drop tantalizing clues before disappearing in a cloud of gunfire and a squeal of tires. The one who's a walking anachronism, with her tricorne hat, flintlock rifle, and steampunked Model A Ford.

Raising the Bar for Strange Sci-fi
Revisado: 09-27-17
I think this novel is fantastic. This is my third Peter Clines novel. I began with 14 and after that read The Fold, and I have to say this is absolutely a step above those already excellent works. 14 was an excellent mystery and The Fold followed suit both were well done and left me hundry for more. I had been waiting in hopeful anticipation for this novel since I first heard of it and it was more different and plainly better than I expected. I refuse to give anything away but this novel is a treat for any Sci-go fans and long time readers of Clines' work. His ability to create an intriguing and thought-provoking story are on full display here. More so than in his past work though I felt extremely attached to the Characters of this novel, not that Nate and Mike aren't good Characters, I loved them, but Eli and Harry are the back bone of this story and they work together wonderfully. This novel also had a slightly different tone. Where as in previous work Clines had focused on a darker narrative bordering on horror this novel was a thriller in the strangest way. I often found myself gigling or smiling while I listened to it and during one scene I nearly cried. I can't recommend this book enough. The Story is wonderful and I almost can't imagine a Peter Clines novel without Ray Porter, although there was one accent that seemed to come and go one one character, but that could just be me. You won't regret this purchase.

Historia
The folks in Mike Erikson's small New England town would say he's just your average, everyday guy. And that's exactly how Mike likes it. Sure, the life he's chosen isn't much of a challenge to someone with his unique gifts, but he's content with his quiet and peaceful existence. That is, until an old friend presents him with an irresistible mystery, one that Mike is uniquely qualified to solve.

A fantastic novel. a wonderful performance.
Revisado: 05-25-17
I loved every minute of it. Between this and 14 Peter Clones has become on of my favorite authors. A novel filled with mystery, intrigue, and excellent sci-fi and just a tinge of horror. Ray Porter hits it out of the park as always and remain one of the best narrators around. Highly recommend reading his other novel 14 before this one!

Good, not great, but glad to have it.
Revisado: 05-17-17
I enjoyed the story, but if you don't have at least some knowledge of the battletech universe it would be incredibly hard to follow. The 4 chapters are divided into smaller sections followings three war fronts and and several other locations throughout the galaxy. The narration was fantastic besides the sound effects that made it sometimes difficult to hear the narrators. Some of these sound effects were really cool but the amount that were bland or disruptive outweighed the positives.
