Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Laugh out loud
Revisado: 07-29-24
This was one of the most enjoyable books I've listened to in a long time. It was also one of the funniest which is not what I expected from a military scifi story. The protagonist was well written and very believable. The Colonel and Skippy were a throw back to some of the great comedy duos. Even if military scifi is not your thing, I would recommend just for those two. I look forward to reading more.

Historia
Brilliantly researched and vividly told, The Unknowns is a timeless tale of heeding the calls of duty and brotherhood and humanizes the most consequential event of the 20th century, which still casts a shadow a century later. Celebrated military historian and best-selling author Patrick O'Donnell illuminates the saga behind the creation of The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and recreates the moving ceremony during which it was consecrated.

Definitely Worth A Read

I have been binging Patrick O'Donnell on Audible lately. He has a way of telling stories about the common warrior like no other. The Unknowns is no exception. Well written and excellently narrated, the author puts you in the trenches, over the barbed wire and had me scratching through my mud soaked uniform for lice and other vermin. I can wait to start my next O'Donnell book.
