Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

Wow!
Revisado: 02-24-20
“Wow!” Is the word I uttered at the end of this audiobook. I
absolutely enjoyed the entire book which is a rarity for me. It was especially nice to have the author narrating the book; a very nice, expressive voice.
Being a convert to Catholicism allowed me to be familiar with the book as I knew what they were speaking about and brought back memories of growing up in the Pacific Northwest going to a Catholic High School. I’m a widow now and without ruining the book for everyone, my Husband and I were going to do what Samuel’s parents did. To quote “Proverbs 16:9: We can make our plans, but The Lord determines our steps.” This is my first “Robert Dugoni “ and I’m anxious to start hearing all of his audiobooks.

Historia
Lisa and Joe Stone, married for 20 years and sole partners in their small law firm in Henry County, Virginia, handle less-than-glamorous cases: domestic disputes, personal injury settlements, or a plethora of complaints from their cantankerous client Lettie VanSandt. When she dies in a freakish incident, the Stones think it's within the realm of possibility that she was cooking meth in her trailer. But details soon emerge that lead them to question how accidental Lettie's demise actually was.

Such a Great Author
Revisado: 02-15-20
I have read all the books Amazon has listed from Martin Clark. What a find! Each of his books start abit slow; however, he’s just laying ground work. His books grow on you. I can’t compare him to other authors; I hope he’s busy getting another audio for us!

Historia
In a small Southern town where loyalty to family and to "your people" carries the weight of a sacred oath, defying those unspoken rules can be a deadly proposition. After 15 years of growing up in the Ozark hills with his widowed mother, high-school freshman Boady Sanden is beyond ready to move on. He dreams of glass towers and cityscapes, driven by his desire to be anywhere other than Jessup, Missouri. The new kid at St. Ignatius High School, if he isn't being pushed around, he is being completely ignored.

Glad I Kept on Reading
Revisado: 12-29-19
For me this book just didn’t seem interesting and I was wondering why I had spent a credit on it. I had read his other books and really enjoyed them and figured this was not one of his better books. I can’t remember when I changed my mind and am very glad I kept listening to it. I’m embarrassed and ashamed of how African Americans were treated and don’t like hearing/reading the horrible details. I feel the same way about the Holocaust. However; even though the book deals with some ignorant, terrible people, the story has enough character/body to it to enable the reader to enjoy “the story within the story “. The author did a wonderful job in the developing the friendships and the narrator was very very good.

Wasn’t sure at the very beginning if I’d enjoy this book. I’m so glad I stayed with listening, as it was a fun book to hear. I needed a break from my WWII audios. I like this author. The narrator was very good at her job. Will try to find more of her readings.

When I saw this was only two hours, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to hear it or not, especially when reviews mentioned sadness. I am so glad I listened to this book. The mother is absolutely delightful making me wish I knew her. What a courageous, honest person. The son did a magnificent job in his part of narrator.

On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Good but too long
Revisado: 11-15-19
Although I enjoyed the book, I started wanting it to be done as it seemed to ramble after awhile. Cut off at least an hour and I believe it would have been a better audiobook. Also, could cut out the vulgar parts. You can plainly understand what the author is trying to convey without all the vulgarity.

I was listening enjoying the book, when it completely took me by surprise. I rewound to listen to the questionable part and slowly realized what the author was saying. An excellent surprise near the end.

Compelling Story
Revisado: 02-11-19
I’m glad I chose this book in spite of negative reviews. I found it to be entertaining without having to skip any parts due to boredom. The narrator did a fine job and all without the excessive language too many books contain today. In my opinion, excessive language shows a lack of class and takes away from the storyline. I’m going to try the author’s suggestion to get “The Reunion”.
