Historia
Nate Overbay, a former soldier suffering from PTSD and ALS, goes to an 11th-floor bank and climbs out the bathroom window onto the ledge, ready to end it all. But as he’s steeling himself to jump, a crew of gunmen bursts into the bank and begins viciously shooting employees and customers. With nothing to lose, Nate climbs back inside, confronts the robbers, and with his military training, starts taking them out, one by one. The last man standing leaves Nate with a cryptic warning: “He will make you pay in ways you can’t imagine.” Soon enough, Nate learns what this means.

Finally...a ‘normal’ protagonist!!
Revisado: 01-25-21
Don’t get me wrong...I love an ex Navy SEAL as hero story as much as the next guy. This story, with a good ole regular Army ground-pounder as hero, was a nice change! The story was very “humanized” as Nate battled ALS and the family dynamic was a nice touch!
As for Scott Brick...he could read a cook book and make it sound exciting!

Excellent Entry
Revisado: 12-18-20
If Lara Croft and Jason Bourne had a baby, it would be Evan Smoak! Great story...it’s nice to have a character that isn’t invincible!
Scott Brick could narrate a quilting competition and it would be exciting! Looking forward to more in the series!

Need a Playbill...!
Revisado: 03-08-20
I’ve read/listened to every single book in the series as most folks on here have. This is the first book that had so many characters it made it almost impossible to keep up. It should have come with a cast of characters like playbills do! My only hope is the next book fills in the gaps in this story.

Historia
What You Are Getting Wrong About Appalachia is a frank assessment of America's recent fascination with the people and problems of the region. The audiobook analyzes trends in contemporary writing on Appalachia, presents a brief history of Appalachia with an eye toward unpacking Appalachian stereotypes, and provides examples of writing, art, and policy created by Appalachians as opposed to for Appalachians. The audiobook offers a much-needed insider's perspective on the region.

Why is every culture diverse...except Appalachians?
Revisado: 03-30-19
I listened to this after listening to Hillbilly Elegy. Which should be titled MY Hillbilly Elegy as it centers on ONE family and ONE families outcomes...but I digress.
The history part of this book was great and as a researcher myself I appreciated it. Problem is it takes one persons narrative (I.e., Elegy) and made it one cultures narrative. Everyone has a story and many things have influenced their stories. That doesn’t make everyone have the same story...
As the saying goes (and we hill-folk have lots of them) all poodles are dogs, but that doesn’t mean all dogs are poodles!

Historia
For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

Loved the format!!
Revisado: 12-23-18
I’ve never heard a combined audiobook and podcast. I wasn’t sure I’d like it but it was really cool to hear the book and then get the “back story” to add to it. Great job to Adam and David and thank you David, not for the motivation but for the passion!!
