Historia
Due to unusual circumstances, Randidly starts in an isolated dungeon far beyond his level, forced to rely on the mysterious Traveler Shal in order to learn and survive with the dangerous new status quo for his world. But survive he does, only to leave the dungeon and discover that while he experienced several hellish months in the dungeon, only half a day passed on Earth. Randidly's capabilities are now more than enough to help build a small enclave of survivors, but that doesn't mean balancing his sense of responsibility against the plots of an unfriendly town will be easy.

Series rewiev
Revisado: 03-10-25
Decent series intro but falls apart in everything from characterization to world building. Largest specific issues are:
1. That the enemies usually cant accomplish anything without deus ex machina intervention, they are not built up or characterized as capable in any believable way, this is especially true for all earth associated threats.
2. World building is generally lacking, probably in part because all overarching motivation is from the system punishment and there is really nothing else to societies, shallow values, lack of customs and lack of history. they feel like dead system things.
Whatever the reasons world/universe and character building is shallow(with a few exceptions), There is allot of "new thing" but it is in general just the same thing again or a deus ex machina plot black hole that is just reductive.

Decent, needs an editor or two
Revisado: 03-07-25
Overall i think this series story is worth a listen if you are an avid LitRPG listener, i really liked the first book but i don't think the series handled the growing power of the characters well there is just to much special everything and really nothing but deus ex machina to get there. The series is still decent but it could have been excellent.
This book really needed an editor, the continuous occurrence of two sentences stating the same thing aswell as overly repetitive diction makes this clear. The main character does not need to spit every second sentence out, and we the listener absolutely don't need to be told every single time. sometimes the words of the character carry all the meaning we need. Also consider using something other than time to indicate that something is happening very fast, expressions like "in mere seconds" does not work in literature about super beings and to be frank in actual normal human combat or sparring, seconds is still kinda slow in most situations.

Filler, filler and more filler
Revisado: 02-15-25
So if you skip this book an just go straight to the next one you will have missed nothing, all you would need to know is that more then half a decade passes, nothing really happens, not even any meaningful conversations or character development, even tough this book actually represents like 75% of our main characters life. So not only is it a short book that have content of little meaning or point it is also a source of major dissonance for anyone that has lived a bit past their twenties.

The worst interpretation of force magic ever
Revisado: 12-29-24
Yes this really is the worst interpretation of force magic ever, of course to deserve this title you would not only have to have a really bad take on force magic itself; you would then go on to go against your own previously established functionality of force magic and after that you would have your characters have ludicrous in universe takes, such as this force construct is a real threat to our golem making business. wow, just wow, impressively bad, like have you even heard of logic bad.
The author then goes on to introduce the idiocy of the first apostle and the ultimate deus ex machina of "nope" where a random loser of the multiverse can randomly decree any random universal law that he wishes. Yeah seriously f*** of, and stop writing books. Waste my life like an a**.

But, even with his growing power, Arlan has never been in more danger. He was left stranded in the middle of a monster-infested forest, nobody to rely on but himself as he fights to build strength. And his time magic wasn't given to him freely. He stole it. And its original owners would go to any lengths to take it back.

Destroyed by book three
Revisado: 12-08-24
So in book three the author introduces a common cleric and paladin spell that is so broken that both the worldbuilding and the premise of the story is invalidated, if you care about these types of things you should not bother with this series, either way i will stop listening here.
Ps. originally i rated this book individually at three stars, this review is for the first three books as a whole.

The book that broke the series
Revisado: 12-08-24
In this book we are introduced to a common cleric and paladin spell that deals damage based on amount of humans killed. Obviously the author does not realize this, but this spell broke the system itself, the worldbuilding and the premise of the books. It changes everything from the very premise of war, and thus nation building and politics to the very fact that demons can invade at all. Thus the author has invalidated everything in their universe, the world can literally not exist in the way it has been described and with that the point of listening to these books has disappeared. Good job my dude...

Botched by the garbage battle sceenes again
Revisado: 09-16-24
In general i really like this series, but again and again the big battles just suck, ever since book 6 they have been a horrendous disappointment. It is difficult to separate my feelings of fundamental dissatisfaction with the happenings and outcomes of these battles from the poorly written scenes of the large battle scenes that completely shatter my suspension of disbelief. Both things point to the same thing however, i hate them, i hate them allot.

Exited for more
Revisado: 08-19-24
Normally i don't give 5 star reviews, especially not after only the first book in the series. But this book just hit me with the right tropes in the right way, and i loved it. The book is of course more than things i just happen to like, And some of the most important of those is how the author writes characters with clear faults without making those faults totally dominate that characters actions; How the characters deal with their faults, the faults of those around them and how they interact with one another in those situations are incredibly well written, thought out and also brought me allot of joy.
Andrea, as always, makes an excellent performance, and is, to me atleast, one of the best narrators/voice actors i have encountered in the countless books i have listened to.

When it comes to action and adventure, every hero needs a good sidekick. Holmes has Watson, Batman has Robin, and Daniel has . . . Orrin. More like brothers than friends, they always have each other's backs. And as Daniel is the big, strong, handsome type, Orrin is more than happy to remain in his shadow at school, at parties, pretty much everywhere. Then things take a turn for the truly weird when a terrible accident catapults the pair into a world totally unlike their own, in which the rules of a role-playing game hold sway.

After book 2 i am so out
Revisado: 08-16-24
Book one was okay enough, gave it three stars, but that was before i listened to book two. While the authors handling of the skills and rules in book one were rough and created some few plotholes. The handling of the same in book two goes far and beyond tough, and basically burns them and the setting to the ground and makes it all non functional. The big bad and storyline also takes a complete nosedive, goes far beyond cringe, and "trashy romance novel" nonsense, atleast the latter two can be fun if I'm in the mood, not so much book two of this series.

Historia
When quiet Orrin and his extroverted best friend, Daniel, were transported to a strange RPG-based world, not much changed between them. Daniel became a hero of legend, while Orrin remained his unobtrusive shadow. Only when they faced a particularly lethal foe did Orrin step out of his comfort zone and display his true worth—with powers he didn't know he had. Of course, Daniel got all the glory, but Orrin doesn't mind. He's just happy they're both still alive.

No book 3 for me
Revisado: 08-16-24
This was just tragically bad, why even write skills, rules and a setting if all you are going to do is ignore them in favor of complete nonsense story twists? And the big bad for book 2, not to mention the elves? wow what garbage writing, what an utter joke of uninteresting nonsense, this is not suspense. In the writers words, This is nothing but the setup of some "deus ex machina" nonsense, talk about lack of self insight. Also if Orren's "logical" skill would actually make him "logical", the big bad could have been killed in any number of ways in this book, instead anyone continuing this nonsense is stuck with this garbage "plot twist" "cliffhanger" joke of a storyline.
