Historia
The Great Gatsby is a 1925 novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Set in the Jazz Age on Long Island, near New York City, the novel depicts first-person narrator Nick Carraway's interactions with mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby and Gatsby's obsession with reuniting with his former lover, Daisy Buchanan. The novel was inspired by a romance Fitzgerald had with socialite Ginevra King, and the riotous parties he attended on Long Island's North Shore in 1922.

worse than you've heard
Revisado: 03-22-25
I actually finished it. I couldn't tell you what it's about. I loved the original novel so much. I couldn't tell which character the narrator was portraying as he could only do 2 or 3 voices. All I know is the author must have been paid by the word. This is a ramblibg, disgusting, horny, confusing elephant sized crap pile of a novel. I could have used this time better, like by getting a colonoscopy or two.

Author of the National Book Award-winning All the Pretty Horses, Cormac McCarthy is one of the most provocative American stylists to emerge in the last century. The striking novel Blood Meridian offers an unflinching narrative of the brutality that accompanied the push west on the 1850s Texas frontier.

Historia
What makes “cults” so intriguing and frightening? What makes them powerful? The reason why so many of us binge Manson documentaries by the dozen and fall down rabbit holes researching suburban moms gone QAnon is because we’re looking for a satisfying explanation for what causes people to join - and more importantly, stay in - extreme groups. We secretly want to know: could it happen to me? Amanda Montell’s argument is that, on some level, it already has.

awesome concept, kinda biased and sensational
Revisado: 04-21-24
pretty biased writing that takes away from her brilliant point about the importance of language in relation to cult indoctrination. overall it was an enjoyable book, but my political views align with the author's. if you're a republican you probably won't like this.

this story was so bad it almost ruined Shibumi
Revisado: 01-14-24
Don Winslow's sequel is trash. None of it is funny or entertaining. Shibumi is satire. Satori plays it straight and is worse off for it. The narration is ok but the direction put in some music as corny as old ladies feet at certain times, ruining an already ham handed story.

A riveting investigation of the myriad ways that parasites control how other creatures - including humans - think, feel, and act. These tiny organisms can live only inside another animal, and, as McAuliffe reveals, they have many evolutionary motives for manipulating their host's behavior. Far more often than appreciated, these puppeteers orchestrate the interplay between predator and prey.

Revisado: 03-12-22
It's sappy. The narration is as corny as an Iowa maze. The information is confusing due to at least 5 visual aids not provided. Worst of all it puts forth an impossibly robotic approach to relationships hobbled together from other people's studies. Google the 5 personality trait types and save yourself 8 hours.
