Historia
A year has passed since the Dark Wizard Myrin attempted to take control of the Kingdom of Verania. Though the scars of the final battle remain, Veranians have come together in unity in order to rebuild. Good King Anthony sits on the throne once more, with Morgan of Shadows at his side. However, a king is not immortal. One day, Anthony will step down, paving the way for his son, Grand Prince Justin, to assume the throne. And Justin wants anything but. Unfortunately for him, he finds himself with bigger things to worry about than just becoming the ruler of a country.

Just delightful!
Revisado: 11-07-23
I am now caught up on this series and am at a loss for what to do next. Just really funny, heartwarming, yet exciting stories. With a side of raunchy humor and ahem, intimate parts that aren't my favorite, the whole series and stories make up for it. (Also, you can skip those parts for your delicate senses if need be). Already looking forward to the next!

Nearly a year ago, blinded by grief and betrayal, Sam of Wilds made a desperate decision to follow the Great White into the Dark Woods. Now, he emerges to a world changed. The City of Lockes is a prison. The King has been locked away in the dungeons. The Kingdom of Verania has fallen, and the Dark wizard Myrin sits on the throne. Historia
Once upon a time, in an alleyway in the slums of the City of Lockes, a young and somewhat lonely boy named Sam Haversford turns a group of teenage douchebags into stone completely by accident. Of course, this catches the attention of a higher power, and Sam's pulled from the only world he knows to become an apprentice to the king's wizard, Morgan of Shadows.

Laughed so hard I cried!
Revisado: 10-05-23
I loved this book! The characters and the humor were hilariously inappropriate, and even being a straight woman, I really loved the story and how a lot of the characters were Queer, and it wasn't weird or taboo. Something about how gloriously awkward Sam was cute and endearing.
Warning: if you listen to this with other people in the house or while walking in the neighborhood, be prepared to laugh out loud and have people stare or your husband ask you if you're okay.
Only part I wasn't in love with was the very end, but probably because I'm a prude, lol. Not like his other books (cerulean, door, puppets), but still great if you you are into raunchy humor.

Historia
In a strange little home built into the branches of a grove of trees, live three robots—fatherly inventor android Giovanni Lawson, a pleasantly sadistic nurse machine, and a small vacuum desperate for love and attention. Victor Lawson, a human, lives there too. They’re a family, hidden and safe. The day Vic salvages and repairs an unfamiliar android labelled “HAP,” he learns of a shared dark past between Hap and Gio–a past spent hunting humans. When Hap unwittingly alerts robots from Gio’s former life to their whereabouts, the family is no longer hidden and safe.

Historia
Like many of us, Jeffrey Marsh was conditioned to have an outward focus—to give to others, to be a good listener, and to be the one who gave the best advice. In Marsh’s case, it was a method of survival. Growing up genderfluid in an unaccepting family, Marsh did everything they could to meet the needs of others and not have needs of their own. And ultimately, this meant Marsh put themself in the backseat of their own life. In this heartfelt and sincere book, Marsh shares their story and the lessons they learned on the path back to themselves.

Beautiful story about acceptance
Revisado: 05-16-23
Such a heartwarming book about acceptance, drawing parallels between issues in our world today. Sweet and well written, and the voicing for characters was excellent.
Someone mentioned fatphobia, and as someone who is anti-diet culture and working through my anti-fat biases, it is nothing you wouldn't encounter in daily life of a friend mentioning how they'd like to drop some weight. It would be nice for society as a whole to stop this practice, but the writing is not at all done maliciously, so I take that review with a grain of salt.

The ultimate endurance athlete, Marshall Ulrich has run more than 100 foot races averaging over 100 miles each, completed 12 expedition-length adventure races, and ascended the seven summits - including Mount Everest. Yet, his run from California to New York - the equivalent of running two marathons and a 10k every day for nearly two months straight - proved to be his most challenging effort yet. In Running on Empty, he shares the gritty backstory of his run and the excruciating punishments he endured on the road.

Much prefer other adventure books
Revisado: 04-22-23
I listen to a lot of book by ultra runners and thru hikers, so I've heard a lot of adventure stories. This book is really slow to start, and though I understand with all the impressive things Marshall has done it would be hard to choose what to write about, his writing cuts out huge opportunities for stories. I mean, we just gloss over CLIMBING MT EVEREST?
But I understand that might not be the point of his book, so fair enough. And I want to feel bad for a guy who lost his wife so young, then he quickly mentions that he remarried a year after her death. He speaks of the time he wasted and didn't connect with his children multiple times, THEN CONTINUES RACING instead of like, rectifying the situation? He spends a lot of effort to drag down one other runner in particular—whose book I MUCH preferred to Marshall's—for what? I am sure there are many more jabs at Charlie I will miss because I am giving up on this book as he starts to cross america.
For someone who mentions his character repeatedly in the first few chapters, he does an awful lot of dragging one person down when, if he truly had character, he would have kept the story about HIM and not about how to make sure that everyone knows what a jerk Mr Engle is.
On top of the aforementioned, the writing is not engaging, which seems crazy given the engaging qualities of ultramarathons and endurance events. Not sure how he managed to make them boring, but he did.
So, maybe the book is okay and I just don't like Marshall as a person? At any rate, not a great book for adventure, and in my opinion, not a great book as an autobiography because he does not come off as a good guy.

Historia
It all begins with a hot-air-balloon trip and three bottles of champagne. Allan and Julius are ready for some spectacular views, but they’re not expecting to land in the sea and be rescued by a North Korean ship, and they could never have imagined the captain of the ship would be harboring a suitcase full of contraband uranium on a nuclear-weapons mission for Kim Jong-un. Yikes! Soon Allan and Julius are at the center of a complex diplomatic crisis involving world figures from the Swedish foreign minister to Angela Merkel and President Trump.

Liked the characters but not as good as the first
Revisado: 04-04-23
I loved the first book so of course I picked this one up. The story was interesting, though it lacked the "time travel" in the story telling that the first had. Entertaining but didn't quite capture the charm of the first. My biggest complaint was with the narration. The first book was read through, no character voices and I enjoyed that. The character voices in this version distracted from the story. Especially the Asian voices, which were really hard to understand. I don't understand why they chose a different style for the second book, but I think it actually made me enjoy the story less, and definitely did nothing to help it.
Anyway, if you liked the first audiobook, skip this one and read it instead.

Historia
After a long and eventful life, Allan Karlsson ends up in a nursing home, believing it to be his last stop. The only problem is that he's still in good health, and in one day, he turns 100. A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn't interested (and he'd like a bit more control over his vodka consumption). So he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey, involving, among other surprises, a suitcase stuffed with cash.
