Fun and entertaining

I think I should start by saying I'm not big on detective style stories. if the mystery is too easy to figure out I feel bored like I'm waiting for the shoe to drop. if the mystery takes a wild and unexpected turn I feel cheated on trying to figure it out before the main character.
Shami walks that fine line like a pro making the story fun and keeps you guessing without cheating you on figuring out what's going on.
the characters are interesting and lovable. magic system in the book feels balanced... well other than the MC obviously.
I can't wait for book 2 !
