Historia
When the Reckoning came, the world was plunged into the fantasy realm of the Quell. Those who remember the old world would say that it’s like those old video games they use to play only with the threat of death. Those in the Quell would say it has given them a life of freedom, while it has robbed some of everything they have. In the Quell, it’s fight or die and Adrianna Swann aimed to live. Ever since her uncle got kidnapped by cultists, she has set off on her own quest of freedom and answers.

Cool premise
Revisado: 07-07-20
Writing and production was good. I listened to this before book 1. The story doesn't really start until the end though which does make you excited to hear book 1, which I enjoyed more. Narration was spot on what you'd expect for s LITRPG.

Space Team meets Celtic Pride
Revisado: 06-20-20
This is one of the rare sci-fi comedies that is well written and well produced. It's got some hilarious parts to it with a ton of laugh out loud moments and scenes that the narration really brings to life. That said, the beginning does take a while to pull you in, but the middle and ending are well worth it. Plus, it's so long it's like getting 2 books to listen to so overall I'm definitely hoping there is a sequel.

We get to know the academy we here about in the first book. Pretty much a completely new cast of characters. Witis is hilarious, the narrator had me laughing. Really good voices.

Really cool take on LitRPG and Fantasy
Revisado: 05-15-19
I was getting a little jaded with steady barrage of meh LitRPG that has been released lately. This was a refreshing take on adding video game mechanics to a well thought out fantasy world. MC levels by collecting essence from the dead with video game like loot and items.

Retro gaming meets VR gamelit
Revisado: 04-01-19
This was a really fun listen. I really liked how old school games and beloved characters were not only a big part of the plot, but made appearances and helped out. Definitely similar to Ready Player One with the retro gaming nostalgia, but a classic stuck in the game LitRPG with high stakes. Excited for the next book and where it goes from here.

I really liked the dungeon scenes and all the cool alchemy stuff they added to this book. He definitely isn't just making potions this book, but using them and exploiting them with special weapons characteristics. Good listen as with the others.

Surprised this was a completely new cast and plot with a couple cameos if you've listened to the Bathrobe Knight books. I think I like this the best, love revenge plots.

Revisado: 06-21-18
No spoilers, but I was totally surprised with the outcome. Finally got answers I've been waiting for. Now that I think about it almost everything was foreshadowed and it all fits together. I love that. I hate it when authors just throw in random answers that don't match the other books. Fun listen.

This is not a novel
Revisado: 11-27-15
First, I want to start off saying that the first book in this series (Ink Mage) is amazing. A great 5 star novel. Wonderful world building, interesting plot, great characters (for the most part), and chalked full of fulfilled promises. This...I don't know what this is. A lengthy unedited first quarter of an unfinished first draft? There is no real plot (at most we're only given a small portion), no character growth, and absolutely no fulfilled...anything. I really can't imagine why Mr. Gischler decided to release this in its current state or how an editor could sign off on this as a whole. Don't get me wrong, this isn't the stereotypical, "this book has a cliffhanger so I'm going to whine about it not having a proper ending" review. I'm fine with cliffhangers. The giant problem here is that there wasn't enough story to have a cliffhanger. This ending was more of a: "plateausitter." We barely made it to the second act. Honestly, the best word to describe how I feel after 10 hours devoted to this piece, of writing, is: unsatisfied. I don't know if I'll read the 3rd installment; maybe after reading a lot of reviews first.
PS. Fiona Hardingham did an amazing job narrating, as usual!
