Historia
Denis Johnson's now classic story collection Jesus' Son chronicles a wild netherworld of addicts and lost souls, a violent and disordered landscape that encompasses every extreme of American culture. These are stories of transcendence and spiraling grief, of hallucinations and glories, of getting lost and found and lost again. The insights and careening energy in Jesus' Son have earned the book a place of its own among the classics of twentieth-century American literature.

One of my favorite Denis Johnson stories
Revisado: 07-11-22
I first knew of this book from the Billy Cruddup movie based o. tbe book. It was a very faithful adaptation as I gladly found out. I like the narrations in this version. The tone adds character to our Ill named protagonist.

Historia
When Norm Macdonald, one of the greatest stand-up comics of all time, was approached to write a celebrity memoir, he flatly refused, calling the genre “one step below instruction manuals.” Norm then promptly took a two-year hiatus from stand-up comedy to live on a farm in northern Canada. When he emerged he had under his arm a manuscript, a genre-smashing book about comedy, tragedy, love, loss, war, and redemption. When asked if this was the celebrity memoir, Norm replied, “Call it anything you damn like.”

One of the best examples of Norm;s style...
Revisado: 09-14-21
We just lost Norm McDonald today. I just heard about it and i keep thinking how i recommended this book to anyone i know said they enjoyed his humor...which is a small amount of people since Norm was so caustic. I loved to hear his stuff and now we wont have any more new material. This book exemplifies the man's humor and it is all completely one hundred percent true....even the lies, especially the lies.

Historia
Omally groaned. "It is the end of mankind as we know it. I should never have got up so early today," and all over Brentford electrical appliances were beginning to fail.... Could it be that Pooley and Omally, whilst engaged on a round of allotment golf, mistook laser-operated gravitational landing beams for the malignant work of Brentford Council? Does the Captain Laser Alien Attack machine in the bar of the Swan possess more sinister force than its magnetic appeal for youths with green hair? Is Brentford the first base in an alien onslaught on planet Earth?

Rankin ar his randomest
Revisado: 05-14-20
i enjoyed it, revisiting the cast of The Flying Swan was enjoyable. i do feel the shenanigans of Omalley and Pooley have been toned down. They were a bit more scoundrrls in previous books, i do hope this is not a pattern that is repeated.

Historia
Robert wants to be a star in the movies. He has invented a system with his computer that could put the old stars back on the screen, alongside him. He has the script and the money, but Hollywood isn't keen. Could the perfect partnership lie with Ernest Fudgepacker of Fudgepacker's Emporium?

Great Robert Rankin story!
Revisado: 04-25-20
Time travelking Nazis making movies is the least weird thing in this stiry, a sort of Brentford trilogy type tale. i do feel the forays into body horror and crerpyness threw me off but they did tie into the story, sort of. Still enoyable though i expected more gags.

it might seem very disparate and sensationalistic but it works at showing us the consequences of free porn.
