Historia
Ramesses II ruled the Nile Valley and the wider Egyptian empire from 1279 to 1213 B.C., one of the longest reigns in pharaonic history. He was a cultural innovator, a relentless self-promoter, and an astute diplomat—the peace treaty signed after the Battle of Kadesh was the first in recorded history. He outbuilt every other Egyptian pharaoh, leaving behind the temples of Abu Simbel; the great hypostyle hall of Karnak; the tomb for his wife Nefertari; and his own memorial, the Ramesseum.

Ramesses II

Wow was there a lot of info. Every single sentence held important information. I think I should have started with a preview before I read Ramesses the Great. I’ll have to read it again. Very well written.

I could not put this book down. This reminds people of where we’ve been and are going again. Black and white…poor and rich.

Historia
Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day. It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Alban refuses to knock the playhouse down, even keeping a picture of it on his wall.

Too many coincidences. Way too many coincidences. I don’t like to leave a book, but I should have.

Historia
Traditional interpretations of the creatures of the Bible have sanded down their sharp, unsavory edges, transforming them into celestial beings of glory and light—or chubby, happy cherubs. Those cherubs? They're actually hybrid guardian monsters, more closely associated with the Egyptian sphinx than with flying babies. And the seraphim? Winged serpents sent to mete out God's vengeance. Demons aren't at war with angels; they're a distinct supernatural species used by Satan and by God. The pattern is chilling. Most of these monsters aren't God's opponents—they're God's entourage.

God’s Monsters
Revisado: 12-26-23
I had no idea how god is viewed in the Bible. I was always taught that it was our fault when something bad happened. God’s punishment. This is the god that I’ve come to see in my own misery and I hated him for it. I was raised as a fundamentalist. Everything god did was for our benefit. He is kinda human, only he can do awful things to good people just because. We are created in his image. This book was phenomenal. I first learned of it on Bart Ehrman’s blog. On of the best books I’ve read in a long, long time.

The Trump Tapes
Revisado: 11-02-22
Please, please listen to this. It’s horrifying. It’s even worse than I thought and I thought Trump was really bad for the country to begin with. Trump is talking throughout this. He keeps bringing up polls and economics and how wonderfully, awesome he is…and nothing is/was his fault. He repeats it over and over and over. I cannot believe this but I felt sorry for Trump at the end of the book. Literally. He was asking Woodward how he thought he did. It sounded like he was a scolded little boy. Maybe we need to hear him at his most vulnerable to find some understanding and go from there.
