Historia
Amy Wilson has always been an ultimate helper. As a big sister, Girl Scout, faithful reader of teen magazines, personal assistant, sitcom sidekick, and, finally, mother of three, Amy believed it was her destiny to be a people pleaser. She learned to put others first, to do what she was told, to finish what she started, and to look like she had everything under control, even when she very much did not. Along the way, Amy started to wonder why doing it all had been her job.

Interesting stories and great narration. I struggle with the same people pleasing type A tendencies as the author and felt seen listening to this audiobook. I will definitely be re-listening in the future.

Up to 40% of people consider themselves shy. You might say you're introverted or awkward, or that you're fine around friends but just can't speak up in a meeting or at a party. Maybe you're usually confident but have recently moved or started a new job, only to feel isolated and unsure. If you get nervous in social situations - meeting your partner's friends, public speaking, standing awkwardly in the elevator with your boss - you've probably been told, "Just be yourself!" But that's easier said than done - especially if you're prone to social anxiety.

Life Changing!
Revisado: 01-11-25
This book helped to change my life along with applying the methods in real time. I went from having terrible social anxiety where my face turned red all the time too afraid to advance my career to becoming a Quality Supervisor for an Aerospace company leading 16 people and regularly participating in meetings, leading events etc with much more ease and almost no anxiety. Even as an introvert! I’ve learned to embrace my true authentic self and stop putting so much weight into what everyone thinks of me. It’s freeing to truly be yourself. I also enjoy her voice in the audio performance, it’s unique and authentic to the author. I recently purchased her new audio book as well and am excited to continue on my self help journey. Thank you so much! I have recommended this book to many others struggling with the same issue.

Historia
The author of the international bestseller How to Be a Woman returns with another “hilarious neo-feminist manifesto” (NPR) in which she reflects on parenting, middle-age, marriage, existential crises—and, of course, feminism. As timely as it is hysterically funny, this memoir/manifesto will have listeners laughing out loud, blinking back tears, and redefining their views on feminism and the patriarchy. More Than a Woman is a brutally honest, scathingly funny, and absolutely necessary take on the life of the modern woman—one that only Caitlin Moran can provide.

I’m 34 and this book makes me feel hopeful about middle age. It is hilarious and insightful. I’ve already listened to it twice as well as purchased and listened to her other books. Highly recommend! Love listening to her as the narrator!

Twenty years after her iconic memoir Shutterbabe, Deborah Copaken is at her darkly comedic nadir: battered, broke, divorcing, dissected, and dying — literally — on sexism’s battlefield as she scoops up what she believes to be her internal organs into a glass container before heading off to the hospital...in an UberPool.

Wow. Incredible story, writing and performance.
Revisado: 02-25-22
This is one of the best books I’ve ever read/listened to. It’s real and raw and very well written. I also really enjoyed the author reading it aloud. It was hilarious, informative, heartbreaking and entertaining. I loved how long it was because I didn’t want it to end. I plan on buying more of her books. I recommend this book to everyone.

Historia
Women are angry, and it isn’t hard to figure out why. We are underpaid and overworked. Too sensitive or not sensitive enough. Too dowdy or too made-up. Too big or too thin. Sluts or prudes. We are harassed, told we are asking for it, and asked if it would kill us to smile. Yes, yes it would. Contrary to the rhetoric of popular “self-help” and an entire lifetime of being told otherwise, our rage is one of the most important resources we have, our sharpest tool against both personal and political oppression.

Revisado: 07-28-21
Thank you so much for this book! I relate to so much of it. I live with my male partner and have a toddler and I do 90% of the housework, 100% of the emotional, planning, packing, prepping and mental load work and 70% of the child care. I also get stuck with 80% of the work at my company where I work full time and make equal pay as my partner while the 3 other male coworkers on my “team” get away with googling things online, wandering around and chatting most of the day. I’m SICK of being a people pleasing pushover and ready for change!

Historia
By the time Chloé Hilliard was 12, she wore a size 12 - both shoe and dress - and stood over six feet tall. Fitting in was never an option. That didn’t stop her from trying. Cursed with a “slow metabolism”, “baby weight”, and “big bones” - the fat trilogy - Chloe turned to fad diets, starvation, pills, and workouts, all of which failed. Realizing that everything - from government policies to corporate capitalism - directly impacts our relationship with food and our waistlines, Chloé changed her outlook on herself and hopes others will do the same for themselves.
