Historia
In North Devon, where two rivers converge and run into the sea, Detective Matthew Venn stands outside the church as his estranged father’s funeral takes place. On the day Matthew left the strict evangelical community he grew up in, he lost his family, too. Now, as he turns and walks away again, he receives a call from one of his team. A body has been found on the beach nearby: a man with a tattoo of an albatross on his neck, stabbed to death. The case calls Matthew back to the people and places of his past, as deadly secrets hidden at their hearts are revealed.

Terrible Narration
Revisado: 02-28-23
The narrator was so dull and delivered the story as if he was reading the weather report.
I had looked forward to this story but am having trouble finishing it because of his monotonous, dull, tiring narration.

Historia
For most of the last hundred years, Biloxi was known for its beaches, resorts, and seafood industry. But it had a darker side. It was also notorious for corruption and vice, everything from gambling, prostitution, bootleg liquor, and drugs to contract killings. The vice was controlled by small cabal of mobsters, many of them rumored to be members of the Dixie Mafia.

Very disappointing
Revisado: 10-25-22
I don’t even know where to start. The story took forever to come together. And when it did it was boring as heck. No dialogue. And the narrator was terrible. He sounded like someone reading the headlines to a deaf person. Wish I had my credit back.

Historia
His name, they tell him, is William Monk, and he is a London police detective. But the accident that felled him has left him with only half a life; his memory and his entire past have vanished. As he tries to hide the truth, Monk returns to work and is assigned to investigate the brutal murder of a Crimean War hero and man about town. Which makes Monk’s efforts doubly difficult, since he’s forgotten his professional skills along with everything else.

Wrong Narrator
Revisado: 01-04-21
Why choose a female narrator when the main character is male? I found that distracting.
The story is very slow but I think it's just the age of the book and the genre.

I'm sorry but the narrator was terrible. Instead of using her own voice for the main character she did a cartoonish female voice. It ruined the audiobook .

I have loved this book since I was a young girl.
Although it would not be considered politically correct in today’s climate it is a timeless story of good versus evil.
