Thought it was about murder
Revisado: 08-26-24
Boy was I wrong! I unfortunately! I have enjoyed hundreds of British mysteries. I read 4 of her books I purchased and stopped. I was not interested in this 40 year olds love life crisis.
Usually husband reads when I finish . Told him not to bother. I do not recommend.

Historia
The ornate reading room at the Boston Public Library is quiet—until the tranquility is shattered by a woman's terrified scream. Security guards take charge immediately, instructing everyone inside to stay put until the threat is identified and contained. While they wait for the all-clear, four strangers, who'd happened to sit at the same table, pass the time in conversation, and friendships are struck. Each has his or her own reasons for being in the reading room that morning—it just happens that one is a murderer.

Couldn’t finish due to taking Lord’s name in vain too many times, besides the unnecessary profanity.
Revisado: 02-23-24
The above and very difficult flow of story.
Very slow and uninteresting. Just can’t finish.

Historia
Librarian Sylvia Ashe knows nothing about her past, having grown up without a father and a mother who refused to discuss him. When she stumbles upon a diary that suggests she's descended from magicians, she's skeptical. After all, magicians are special, and she's just an ordinary woman who loves books. She seeks answers from a member of the most prominent family of magicians, but she quickly learns that finding the truth won't be easy, especially when he turns out to be as artless as her, and more compelling and dangerous than books.

I thought story was childlike
Revisado: 05-07-22
Thought story childlike, reader sounded like a teenager voice, even though character is 38. Very slow and petty for a grown woman.

Historia
Normally dead bodies in a graveyard are buried - but not this one. When a woman is found strangled in a North London cemetery with an old newspaper clipping clutched in her hand, Inspector Witherspoon is surprised to find that he and the victim have crossed paths before. Alice Robinson was a respectable widow who ran a quiet Islington lodging house. None of her lodgers have any apparent motive to murder their landlady.

Didn’t like Lutie’s new voice
Revisado: 12-21-21
These mysteries are absolutely fabulous. I know some voices must change, due to unforeseen reasons,
But Lutie’s was grating.
