Guy Montag is a fireman. In his world, where television rules and literature is on the brink of extinction, firemen start fires rather than put them out. His job is to destroy the most illegal of commodities, the printed book, along with the houses in which they are hidden. Montag never questions the destruction and ruin his actions produce, returning each day to his bland life and wife, Mildred, who spends all day with her television "family."

Crime fiction packed with Italian flavour, Death in August is the first Inspector Bordelli mystery set in 1960s' Florence - perfect for fans of Andrea Camilleri or Donna Leon.
Florence, summer 1963. Inspector Bordelli is one of the few policemen left in the deserted city. He spends his days on routine work and his nights tormented by the heat and mosquitoes. Suddenly one night, a telephone call gives him a new sense of purpose: the suspected death of a wealthy Signora.

Not a good book in my opinion... waste of money
Revisado: 11-24-19
I can't decide what was worse... the nearly pointless story or the droning narration. I would exchange this book, but apparently Audible has put a limit on exchanges (although I can't find that policy anywhere) . Sadly, this means I'm stuck with this awful book and will have to be incredibly picky about how i use my credits from here on out. No more trying new Authors.

My name is Norah Canivan, and for 50 years I’ve kept a secret. It is a secret about the girl I discovered hiding on our sorry patch of land - the girl in the tattered green dress who was running from something - and someone. The Girl in Green brought something different into my young life. And something darker. And when she died, nothing was ever the same after. For 50 years, only I’ve known what really happened to The Girl in Green. And now, these many years later, my secret may kill me.

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

I almost stopped listening during the first chapter because the narration seemed very flat. But it became apparent that the narrator got drawn in by the story as it developed and she became very good. Really good, thought- provoking and heart- wrenching story. I'll definitely listen again!
