a bridge between trilogies

this book and this series really helped bridge the gaps between thrawn's past and his future with the empire. while there are still more questions to be answered about the great Chiss strategist this novel gave a lot of insight into Thrawn. also the flashbacks with Thrass humanized him in a way that made me feel sympathy for the future imperial admiral.

its fine, but full of vagueness

as always the McElroy Family make an entertaining product. however, the tips and tricks given are, as most self-help or "how to break into an industry" books are, backed up with caveats, maybes and vague hints.

I am sure this will help newbies but not those deep in the podcast game.

Zahn does it again

Thrawn comes across as both the ruthless, cunning tactician we know and love as well as a caring, respectful and even kind mentor to the other characters in the book. There is humor in some of his actions and there is no telling how his plans can work until it's all laid out.

Zahn has once again created a compelling, thoughtful and interesting story for Thrawn. he has also humanized a character that in other portrayals has seemed cold, cruel and evil. Well done. Can't wait for part 2!

Thrawn is the most compelling character

Zahn has proven that his ability to write Thrawn has not diminished over the years. Thrawn comes alive in this novel. his tactical brilliance, his genius analytical abilities and the sense of superiority he has really carries the day in this book.

A message for hope and a call to action

Alex's story is an inspiration, even to a straight white cis male like myself.

Saving Alex, as a book, is a roller coaster of emotions. Desires for justice, joy at the conclusion to her ordeal, immense feelings of sadness and even tears will wash over you as you read or listen to it. This book needs to be heard by all.

Garland is a bit dull

While I found all of the stories to be engaging, the constant use of cliché phrases by Professor Garland took me out of the stories every time. "History turned on a dime" is a silly phrase, and one that should be omitted in future lectures. Also the professor is always saying "well we really don't know if this is true" which makes me question why he would include those stories in a lecture about history, facts and data. But it's entertaining I suppose

Perfect, just like that planet of Awesome size I keep seeing in my dreams

The creators of our favorite spooky town have done it again with this Novel. The characters of Diane and Jackie are entertaining and silly. The fact that the weirdness of Nightvale is just accepted by its residents is perfect. The flow of the story seemed to drag a bit, but mainly because the authors were so busy giving luscious details and bringing in some callbacks and jokes from the Nightvale cannon that we all love.

Thank you Joseph and Jeffrey and Cecil and even the faceless old woman who secretly lives in my home for making this Novel more than I could have ever imagined. I know you probably don't read all of these reviews but if you do read mine, just know that your stories, your podcasts and your live shows have really impacted my life and made me a happier person.

Jacen's turn to the dark side seemed forced.

I felt like the whole book was hinting that Jacen would turn and then when he did, it seemed way too out of character and too easy for him to turn.
