Historia
For forty-two years, Sally Harrison has been building a library. Each year, on her daughter’s birthday, she adds a new book to her shelves – with a note in the front dedicated to her own greatest work. But Ella – Sally’s only child – fled to Australia twenty-two years ago after a heated exchange, and never looked back. And though Sally still dutifully adds a new paperback to the shelves every time the clock strikes midnight on July 11th, her hopes of her daughter ever thumbing through the pages are starting to dwindle.

WOW! Just WOW!
Revisado: 09-09-24
I just finished reading THE MEMORY LIBRARY, by Kate Storey. This story hits close to home. It is full of life lessons, relationships between mothers and daughters, and a love of books. As I read this book, I thought about my life and the thousands of books I have read and shared during my lifetime. I spent most of my life in libraries and bookstores. I took the "Best book at the best time" seriously and tried to suggest books that I thought the intended reader would enjoy and many benefit from the reading the stories. Most of those of us who love books have favorites. Have you ever stopped and thought about why a certain book is a favorite? This book is definitely worth reading and its impact will last a long time.
PS--If my mom was still here with us, I would give her this book to read so we could talk about the story and our relationships. I would probably be surprised by some of our revelations to each other.

The small wedding is a family event, right down to Christy’s cats and subjects of her books, Milton and Pearl, who are dressed in wedding attire and pulled down the aisle in a wagon. After the reception, Christy and her boyfriend-hopeful, Micah, agree to help her friend and wedding caterer, Janie, clean up at her pastry shop. But when they arrive at the shop, they're not greeted by Janie but Janie’s ex-husband—who’s dead on the floor, cold as a frozen muffin!

I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first one because I didn't like the voice given to some of the characters.

Historia
Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed. Soon afterward, his death is a national headline. Some are calling him a thug, maybe even a drug dealer and a gangbanger. Protesters are taking to the streets in Khalil’s name.

True meaning of THUGLIFE--WOW! JUST WOW!
Revisado: 05-21-24
I am a retired public school librarian who wishes this book could be on the novel study list for 8th and 9th grade students. The research and activities parts of the novel study that I could create for this book would be over the top. Some of the parents in my school community would probably have the hounds of hell rained on me. I wouldn't care how they react as long as they didn't refuse to allow their children to read and participate in this novel study. I am so happy I listened to the audio instead of reading for myself because actually hearing the true voices made the story so much more real. I learned so much from this story. I wish I had read it when it was first released instead of waiting until now. I am thinking of several of my students who would benefited from reading this powerful story. I never knew that THUGLIFE stood for something so powerful. Thank you for sharing this story with everyone because we all need to read and understand a fraction of what others go through on a daily basis just to survive.

When my grandmother found out she didn’t have long to live, she embarked on a crazy trip—jumping out of airplanes and scuba diving with sharks. After I repeatedly voiced my concern, Gram blocked me—her own grandson—on text and social media, leaving me only her travel companion Eleanor’s number.

Ellie quickly realizes this is no ordinary story; it’s their story. Captivated by Jack’s words, she immerses herself in the pages, reliving the adventures they shared that magical summer. To her astonishment, hidden among the tales of star-gazing and stolen kisses is a detail that has her questioning everything.

OMG!!!
Revisado: 03-27-24
OMG!!!! I just finished reading this book! I am absolutely spent. I wasn't prepared to read a total tear-jerker. I have avoided reading this type of story since my mom and husband both departed this world 3 years ago. This story is so good, I can't find appropriate words to describe it. As I was absorbed in my reading, I was thinking I should read more of the author's books. If his other books are as poetic and heartrending as this one, I think I will wait awhile before reading another one. By the way, a man can write a good romance.

LOVE!!
Revisado: 01-21-21
Romance stories are not my first choice. I read one occasionally. My extended family has been through some tougher than usually time over the last six months. (Not COVID related) I was looking for something fun to read. A friend suggested this one. I thoroughly enjoyed this modern day fairy tale.

Historia
Assisting an overwhelmed insurance appraiser with the inventory, Addie discovers an 1887 magazine containing Arthur Conan Doyle's first Sherlock Holmes novel, A Study in Scarlet, which she estimates to be worth over $150,000. But when Addie later finds the appraiser dead in the estate's private library, with the door bolted from the inside, and the priceless edition missing, it's a mystery worthy of the Great Detective himself. She's certain the death and the robbery are connected - but who, other than a ghost who can walk through walls, could have gotten in to do the deed?

I am a MAD librarian, also. I know many MAD librarians who are MAD for the same reason----LITTLE OR NO MONEY! Serenity is my hero! She does what we all wish we could do! Find a gold mine and create a library that is all things to all people. The ending made me sad.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Mixed Feelings
Revisado: 08-01-19
I know so many people who loved this book. I decided to see what all the fuss was about. I might have liked it better if I had read it instead of listening to it. I intensely disliked the voice of Kya. That wispy, baby voice irritated the heck out of me. I hate it when I meet women who are still using a baby voice when they are 60 plus years old, I grew up in rural Virginia during the time the story took place. I found the people of the area to be realistic because I could put a name and face of someone I knew as a child who acted just the same as the narrow-minded, judgmental people in the story. There were times when I thought the book would never end. I had mixed feelings about Tate. I loved him for loving Kya and treating her the way should have been treated. Then, I hated him for abandoning her. Then, I loved him for coming back to her. I still do not believe Kya killed Chase, even though he deserved to be thrown off the fire tower. He was a totally despicable person who felt he was entitled to take whatever he wanted. After all this, I still think the book was a good story. I just wish I had read it instead of listening to it.
