Historia
Zanders: Chicago hockey isn't complete without me—everyone's favorite player to hate. I know my role, and I play it well. In fact, I thoroughly enjoy spending the majority of my game time in the penalty box before leaving the arena with a new girl on my arm each night. What I don't like is the new flight attendant on our team's private plane. She works for me, not the other way around. But I'll be sure to remind her of that, and I can guarantee, by the end of the season, she'll be begging to quit her job.

In the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump and many around him, including certain other elected Republican officials, intentionally breached their oath to the Constitution: they ignored the rulings of dozens of courts, plotted to overturn a lawful election, and provoked a violent attack on our Capitol.

Educational and Interesting!
Revisado: 03-17-24
Excellent read! Great listen cause Liz has the receipts!
Disclaimer: I am an Independent voter, conservative and liberal views depending on the topic. I am an advocate for the protection of our Constitution and the freedoms we enjoy because of those that have sacrificed their lives. I also believe we are not the ones to judge others and how they live their lives; religion, sexuality, gender, identity or anything else that makes us different from one another. Those differences should be celebrated not judged and attacked.
All that to say Congresswomen Liz Cheney does a beautiful job of breaking down her career, her family, her vision, her ideals, and the days before, after and the day of 6 Jan. No matter your side, we should all agree, storming the Capitol with the intent to harm our leaders and place our democracy in danger is not okay. I further appreciate Ms Cheney’s decision to stand for the Constitution, the people, and our Nation.

Historia
Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed. Soon afterward, his death is a national headline. Some are calling him a thug, maybe even a drug dealer and a gangbanger. Protesters are taking to the streets in Khalil’s name.

Excellent story! A book to provide a life perspective different than mine. I laughed out loud, cried, and actively listened to the message and voices throughout this book. Fantastic story, wish I read it with a group to have a deeper conversation, however the added outlook and context will stay with me as I continue discussing topics with those around me.

Historia
Elementary school teacher Jacqueline "Jacks" Morales's marriage was far from perfect, but even in its ups and downs it was predictable, familiar. Or at least she thought it was...until two police officers showed up at her door with devastating news. Her husband of eight years, the one who should have been on a business trip to Kansas, had suffered a fatal car accident in Hawaii. And he wasn't alone.

Not a Typical Mystery
Revisado: 01-02-24
The author lulled me into a “safe mystery” where I was guessing the secrets before they were revealed. All that changed as I got closer to the end about 8-9 chapters out from the end, when the twist came! A character I thought I knew as boring, predictable really was nothing like that and so much of what I thought I knew was not true.

First celebrated for her voice, she became one of the most talked-about women in the world, whether for music and fashion, her relationship struggles, or as a walking blonde joke. But now, instead of being talked about, Jessica is doing the talking. Her audiobook shares the wisdom and inspirations she’s learned and shows the real woman behind all the pop-culture clichés. Open Book is an opportunity to laugh and cry with a close friend, one that will inspire you to live your best, most authentic life, now that she is finally living hers.

Love Jessica reading the book- it’s girlfriend talk!
Revisado: 12-30-23
Love the rawness in this book!!! So glad that Jessica did not shy away from telling ALL the stories. Her personal stories made me feel as though I was sitting with a girlfriend over nachos and margaritas catching each other up on all the pieces of life, from the amazing moments to the sad ones to the WTF was I doing to finding her voice. It was perfect. And while some may compare Jessica to Britney- Jessica’s book is WAY better!! When I met Jessica in 2000 at a grad night at Walt Disney World, I knew I would be a fan (and friend from afar), this book made me love her more and connected me to her more than ever.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Historia
In June 2021, the whole world was listening as Britney Spears spoke in open court. The impact of sharing her voice—her truth—was undeniable, and it changed the course of her life and the lives of countless others. The Woman in Me reveals for the first time her incredible journey—and the strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history. Written with remarkable candor and humor, Spears’s groundbreaking book illuminates the enduring power of music and love—and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms, at last.

Disappointed
Revisado: 11-20-23
Definitely not 5 star, which makes me sad. I was excited to hear Britney’s perspective. Instead it reads as her journal, lacking details with only a snippet of information on subjects cause she knows the story. She glossed over things but then went depth on how she got out of the conservatorship.
I’m a Britney fan but extremely disappointed. I only hope she continues to heal and enjoy her freedoms

It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Interesting to hear his perspective and a great reminder that not all published is truth. It is quite obvious the mental anguish he had ans is still wrestling with based on his upbringing. Hope this book helped him find closure on many subjects.

Historia
An exuberant and insightful work of popular history of how streets got their names, houses their numbers, and what it reveals about class, race, power, and identity. When most people think about street addresses, if they think of them at all, it is in their capacity to ensure that the postman can deliver mail or a traveler won’t get lost. But street addresses were not invented to help you find your way; they were created to find you. In many parts of the world, your address can reveal your race and class.

Fascinating history! So glad these remarkable women’s stories were able to be captured. They are hero’s in their own right and as a country we are incredibly thankful for their service. They help propel the country forward and bring the world to peace faster.
