Historia
In Greywood Bay, time doesn't heal—it devours. After the fire of Raven’s Valley consumed their community—and the lives of their neighbors—fourteen-year-old Zelda and her uncle Mark are determined to rebuild within this small coastal town. It’s a place of serene beauty and rich history, a bucolic enclave they hope to call home. If only the ghosts would leave her alone.

Hard to leave the Lost Coast
Revisado: 10-30-24
Zelda is a wonderful character you feel for her and the tragic short journey she’s been on. And Uncle Mark’s patience and understanding makes me strive to be a better father. Fortunately, I do not have to deal with the cosmic horrors that haunt Zelda Ruiz and anyone close to her, even her grandparents turn into someone you can understand and empathize with, Andrew Van Wey does a wonderful job of building a world (or worlds) you can believe in and want to visit! Or maybe not depending on your knowledge of the Lost coast! But if you do enter the Lost Coast enjoy the world building and the journey you may not want to leave…

Historia
Mella lives in a tiny house in the middle of a dense forest with her mommy and her baby brother, Pete. Sometimes her daddy comes, and with him often the bad man comes, as well. Mella knows that she, her mommy and little brother are a secret family living where nobody knows they are, but she can't remember why that is or why her mommy is chained to the floor. In The Tall Trees is a story told through the eyes of our little hero as she must brave what's out there, lurking in the shadows, to save all that she knows and loves in the world.

The Story!
Revisado: 07-25-24
While necessary and not the narrators fault I had a hard time with the voice used. But I was brought in by the story and the reality of our current world. Is this based on true events!

BETA - It gets inside your head...
Revisado: 05-21-24
This book had me from beginning to end. The characters, the writing, the genres it covers. I loved the entire listen I will be purchasing this to read again. It kept my attention to the point I didn't want to stop. I loved how the author kept you on your toes, and the ending I love it, I won't give anything away but I absolutely loved it. I have had nightmares about Ella, not sure I spelled that correctly, talking to me, gives me the creeps. Anyway I could go on and on, Michael the main character is excellent, he reminds me of some of King's protagonists, but he is a perfect manifestation of many of us I believe, or maybe just me. Life brings us the highest of highs and the lowest of the lows, it's the decisions we make that can bring us out of those lows so we can ride the highs longer. Or those decisions keep us in the lows, it's up to each of us on how long we remain in those lows. Sorry about the preaching I don't usually do this, BETA just has me thinking. Read it, you won't regret it.

When Louise finds out her parents have died, she dreads going home. She doesn’t want to leave her daughter with her ex and fly to Charleston. She doesn’t want to deal with her family home, stuffed to the rafters with the remnants of her father’s academic career and her mother’s lifelong obsession with puppets and dolls. She doesn’t want to learn how to live without the two people who knew and loved her best in the world. Most of all, she doesn’t want to deal with her brother, Mark, who never left their hometown, gets fired from one job after another, and resents her success.

Fun Listen
Revisado: 07-05-23
My son and I listened to this while were driving to a couple of different camping trips the past week and a half and we loved it! I was happy to share something with him that I love. This book had a little bit of everything I love in horror, it builds suspense, keeps you guessing on which way things are going to go, and gives you a satisfying ending. I heard it may be made in it to a movie and most of the time I don't want this to happen because it never lives up to the book, but if done right this could be a really fun movie.
