Historia
Forty thousand years ago, humanity fled a dying Earth. Traveling in massive arkships, these brave pioneers spread out across the galaxy to find a new home. After traveling thousands of light-years, one fleet of arkships arrived at Centauri, a dense cluster of stars with a vast array of potentially habitable planets. The survivors of Earth signaled to the remaining arkships that humanity had finally found its new home among the stars.

Amazing World Building
Revisado: 01-29-25
Levee it to Peter F to build an entirely new universe on a very relatable premise, and with societal outcomes that remain true to human nature. The narrative builds slowly but inexorably to quite a climactic finish.

Who know that being a villain could be enlightened?
Revisado: 06-07-24
This story was absolutely made for Will Wheaton. This was perhaps the most truly original story idea I've seen in several years, and well done, too.

Historia
In lyric, accessible prose, Carlo Rovelli invites us to consider questions about the nature of time that continue to puzzle physicists and philosophers alike. For most listeners, this is unfamiliar terrain. We all experience time, but the more scientists learn about it, the more mysterious it appears. We think of it as uniform and universal, moving steadily from past to future, measured by clocks. Rovelli tears down these assumptions one by one, revealing a strange universe where, at the most fundamental level, time disappears.

Unusual Take on Science Non-Fiction
Revisado: 12-13-22
I read this book I've a few years ago, was curious how I would react to it as an audiobook. At some points, I am reminded of the Isaac Asimov books on science I read as a kid, but this topic is, for me at least, so much more in the cutting edge of how we think about our universe and our experience as humans in it. At times it necessarily becomes more of a philosophy text. I definitely recommend it for those not afraid to be challenged.

Historia
The fourth book in the NYT best-selling Expanse series, Cibola Burn sees the crew of the Rocinante on a new frontier, as the rush to colonize the new planets threatens to outrun law and order and give way to war and chaos. Enter a new frontier. "An empty apartment, a missing family, that's creepy. But this is like finding a military base with no one on it. Fighters and tanks idling on the runway with no drivers. This is bad juju. Something wrong happened here. What you should do is tell everyone to leave".

Book and Reading are Great; Need to Name Chapters
Revisado: 06-02-22
I love this story and the whole series, but why do they fail to name the chapters in the Table if e Contents? They did for all the books in the series before this, now the names area very unhelpful "Chapter 37" instead of "37. Holden". Self inflicted wound by the makers of this audio book.

Historia
The planet is isolated from the rest of the universe, unable to seek help as it's targeted by hostile aliens. Bienvenido's ruling authorities have slowly responded to this gradual infiltration, but they have no idea that a highly organized invasion is now under way, designed to wipe out all human life on the planet. All factions must work together to survive. Unfortunately, due to prejudice against enhanced Eliter humans and crippling technophobia, the parochial government won't collaborate.

I am gutted that it's over!
Revisado: 01-14-22
As I understand it, this book will conclude Hamilton's Commonwealth series. That makes me sad, I feel like therr are so many more interesting stories to tell. This book is a microcosm of why I like Hamilton so much. So much science fiction today is rooted in apocalyptic visions of humanity's future and the darker parts of our nature. But Hamilton, like Roddenberry, has a much more optimistic view of humanity's future and it's ability to rise above it's baser instincts. <3

For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Historia
In the holy city of Tova, the winter solstice is usually a time for celebration and renewal, but this year it coincides with a solar eclipse, a rare celestial even proscribed by the Sun Priest as an unbalancing of the world. Meanwhile, a ship launches from a distant city bound for Tova and set to arrive on the solstice. The captain of the ship, Xiala, is a disgraced Teek whose song can calm the waters around her as easily as it can warp a man’s mind. Her ship carries one passenger.

Loved the story, despised the lack of ending
Revisado: 07-04-21
the story to a while to ensnare me, but I did get invested in the characters and conflict eventually. and then it ended in a perfect lack of resolution.
