Historia
With trademark humor and no-nonsense practicality, Rachel Jankovic explains the fake story of the self, starting with the inventions of a supremely ugly man named Sartre (rhymes with "blart"). And we - men and women, young and old - have bought his lie of the best self, with terrible results.

Loved the “feelings are monkeys” example!
Revisado: 05-23-24
So good! I Loved the “feelings are monkeys” and “planting flags” examples! Thank you for being honest and to the point. Very well written book - the philosophy stuff at the beginning helped give understanding to our culture now. I found her narration to be a tad fast so I slowed down the audio just a touch. Headed to read more of the Bible now!

Historia
There's a murderer on the loose - but that doesn't stop the girls of St. Etheldreda's from attempting to hide the death of their headmistress in this rollicking farce. The students of St. Etheldreda's School for Girls face a bothersome dilemma. Their irascible headmistress, Mrs. Plackett, and her surly brother, Mr. Godding, have been most inconveniently poisoned at Sunday dinner.

Such a funny, quirky story. The narrator did a phenomenal job doing the different voices of each of the characters!

So insightful!!
Revisado: 09-14-23
The author does a phenomenal job of giving background information of how we arrived to the current state of feminism, steps to take to help women embrace their natural body as a gift and how we can contribute to the world around us! I’m excited to see real change in this direction and hope the next wave of feminism will begin to accept the natural biological functions of women and our gifts we have to share!

Historia
1950: Margaret Devonshire (Megs) is a 17-year-old student of mathematics and physics at Oxford University. When her beloved eight-year-old brother asks Megs if Narnia is real, logical Megs tells him it’s just a book for children, and certainly not true. Homebound due to his illness, and remaining fixated on his favorite books, George presses her to ask the author of the recently released novel The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe a question: “Where did Narnia come from?”

This is a lovely story! A beautiful nod to C.S. Lewis’ work and the narrator’s voice lends so well to it! I’ll be listening to this audio book again! 😍

Historia
At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another. But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed....

Awe-inspiring
Revisado: 06-15-21
The story of Corrie Ten Boom and her sister Betsy is literally awe-inspiring. I bookmarked many clips through the book, such great reminders and wisdom. I was often filled with wonder at how they endured and flourished in such difficult circumstances.
I also enjoyed the audio version as read by this narrator, her voice is comforting. May every person who reads/listens be blessed.
