A great way to experience history
Revisado: 01-25-23
His books are a great way to experience history. While novels, the history is accurate and with the novelization of the participants you get a great sense of not just the facts of history but the feelings as well.

Historia
John Carr, a.k.a. Oliver Stone - once the most skilled assassin his country ever had - stands in Lafayette Park in front of the White House, perhaps for the last time. The president has personally requested that Stone serve his country again on a high-risk, covert mission. Though he's fought for decades to leave his past career behind, Stone has no choice but to say yes. Then Stone's mission changes drastically before it even begins.

Parts were a bit predictable compared to his other books. The twists were in where was it going next vs who was behind it. That, coupled with the length didn't keep me quite as engaged. The little twist at the end was a surprise though and a nice way to wrap.

Historia
Mexican drug cartels are shooting up the streets of Laredo and El Paso. Somali pirates are holding three U.S. tankers for ransom. The President of the United States is fed up and, as Commander in Chief, has what he thinks is a pretty bright idea — to get hold of Colonel Charley Castillo and his merry band and get them on the case. Unfortunately, that will be difficult. Everybody knows that the President hates Castillo’s guts, and has just had him forcibly retired from the military, and now Castillo’s men are scattered far and wide, many of them in hiding.

Humor abounds
Revisado: 01-14-15
There has always been a bit of comic relief in his books but this one is all humor. A great read/listen. Highly recommended.
