Historia
Macbeth: A Novel brings the intricacy and grit of the historical thriller to Shakespeare’s tale of political intrigue, treachery, and murder. In this full-length novel written exclusively for audio, authors A. J. Hartley and David Hewson rethink literature’s most infamous married couple, grounding them in a medieval Scotland whose military and political upheavals are as stark and dramatic as the landscape in which they are played.

Gripping tale

What a story and the narration by Alan Cumming was spell binding. Being a transported Scot, the images of the highlands was so magical despite all the murder and mayhem. Great story.

I can't think when a book last brought tears to my eyes. I couldn't stop listening and what a surprising, yet satisfying ending. Don't want to spoil it for future listeners.

What happened here?
Revisado: 07-07-16
This story was tough to follow as though pieces of the narrative had been chopped out. There also was two totally silent areas. I guess Titus had gone for a bathroom break. As usual Titus Welliver was terrific and I believe the unabridged version would have been much more enjoyable.

Most enjoyable read
Revisado: 06-15-15
This book had a slow start, but once it got going it was a page turner. I really enjoyed the narrator as well. Every now and again a writer comes along who transports the reader right into the location of the story and this is one.

Couldn't put it down
Revisado: 03-31-15
James Lee Burke has such a way with words that transports the reader/listener away from their world and into his. It's like magic. I tell people that he could be writing about a garage roof and make it sound like a lace of wonder and beauty. Another terrific story about Dave, Clete and family. Fabulous narration by Will Patton as always.

Revisado: 03-24-15
An exploration of the mind of a very frightening psychopath and her victim. Just like a huge spider playing with its next meal. A more vicious remake of Scarlett O'Hara. I hope there is not a sequel; it would be too troubling to read I almost feel like throwing up. Poor Nick.

This book really needed a lot of editing. Many parts were really great; riveting almost but a lot of it was dwelling on the meandering thought processes of Tom and Penn that became more and more aggravating. Could have been a great book - but........
