The methods contained within this book are so simple, so instantaneous, and so effective, it’s as if they work by magic. If you implement even one tactic in this book, you’ll see the change in your prospects' demeanor. And you’ll know the $100M Offers method worked when you start hearing, “What do I need to do to move forward?” before you even ask for the sale.

Actually amazing.

Have read countless of these.
This one is actually packed with value. The core concepts are spot on. The delivery is excellent.
The one bone to pick with this book is it doesn’t sufficiently dissent specific applications of the core concepts, mainly the first one, “the grand slam offer.”
What EXACTLY was done? How was the downside risk managed? Via a guarantee? How were compliance and cash collections handled? For instance, it’s easy to tell clients “just pay me when you make money”, but how do you manage your own cash flows and how do you control getting paid?

Historia
Ordinary Men is the true story of Reserve Police Battalion 101 of the German Order Police, which was responsible for mass shootings as well as round-ups of Jewish people for deportation to Nazi death camps in Poland in 1942. Browning argues that most of the men of RPB 101 were not fanatical Nazis but, rather, ordinary middle-aged, working-class men who committed these atrocities out of a mixture of motives, including the group dynamics of conformity, deference to authority, role adaptation, and the altering of moral norms to justify their actions.

Very chaotic narration.

90% of the book (9 hrs) is disjointed descriptions of various massacres. The part about “ordinary men” is only about an hour long and at the very end.

Historia
A report on how the greed of a privileged few, subsidized by public funding, creates substantial profits for themselves from mass human suffering. This was a speech given by General Butler during a nationwide tour in the early 1930's, but it applies even more today! Listen as he frankly discusses, from his experience as a career military officer, how business interests commercially benefit from warfare. He then suggests several practical solutions for reducing the pillage.

Actually a succinct and effective rundown. Worth reading. However, would really benefit from (1) a PDF summary and (2) more structure -- many themes overlap in different places, positioned as separate points.

Historia
Oblomov is the best known novel by Russian writer Ivan Goncharov, first published in 1859. Oblomov is also the central character of the novel, often seen as the ultimate incarnation of the superfluous man, a symbolic character in 19th-century Russian literature. Oblomov was compared to Shakespeare's Hamlet as answering "No!" to the question "To be or not to be?" Oblomov is a young, generous nobleman who seems incapable of making important decisions or undertaking any significant actions.

This is NOT Vyacheslav Gerasimov!
Revisado: 01-26-16
What disappointed you about Oblomov?
The narration is not by Vyacheslav Gerasimov, perhaps the best narrator of classic books, but some woman who speaks in monotone and just destroys the whole thing. This is deceptive.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Oblomov?
The story is obviously good, but the woman does the opposive of making it come to life.
Would you be willing to try another one of Vyacheslav Gerasimov’s performances?
HIS performances are the very best.

Historia
For years, our concept of the self and well-being has been dominated by the notion of self-esteem, while the old fashioned value of willpower has been disparaged by psychologists who argued that we’re largely driven by unconscious forces beyond our control. In Willpower Baumeister and Tierney turn this misinformation on its head to reveal self-control as arguably the single most powerful indicator of success. Baumeister discovered that willpower actually has a physical basis to it....

This is a NEW STANDARD for what a 5-star book is
Revisado: 01-12-16
Would you listen to Willpower again? Why?
It is a brilliant and thoroughly practically applicable work. I was pausing to take notes easily every 10 minutes.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Willpower?
It's not really about memorable moments, although there are many. It's that you actually begin to understand what this thing called self-control is, how important it is, and how to improve it.
Have you listened to any of Denis O'Hare’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I haven't listened to this narrator, but he narrates very well here.
What insight do you think you’ll apply from Willpower?
Hopefully, with time, every one :) in truth, this is the most practically applicable book written by an academic that I've ever read. To say it's based on research would almost be an insult -- it almost _is_ research, as literally every statement is backed up by an explanation of a relevant scientific study. Yet, unlike most academics writing books, the author takes great pains to make it understandable to the reader and practically applicable to him. This is truly rare. Even seminal works such as Goleman's Emotional Intelligence suffer from the opposite -- a very erudite professor just talking about things he and his colleagues have researched, without a care about structure, the reader's ability to comprehend or practical return on his time invested.
Any additional comments?
This is an absolutely brilliant book, for me it sets a new standard for what a 5-star book of this sort can be.

Not bad. A list of stories on biz. relationships
Revisado: 01-12-16
What was one of the most memorable moments of Power Relationships?
The comparison of two partners at audit firms, one of whom has a relationship with her clients and is a trusted adviser to them (credit: the always excellent David Maister), whereas the other is in a crunch, because he's selling a commodity (lowest-cost audit) and does not have a relationship.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Author narration in general is nice, but one of the authors could sound more upbeat.

In On Your Best Behavior: The Fundamentals of Etiquette, Professor Robert A. Shutt reviews the fundamentals of appropriate behavior practiced in the course of life. Everyday etiquette is essentially social etiquette, which has evolved to meet the needs of this century. Professor Shutt examines the historical roots of social etiquette and explains how its foundations remain relevant today - even as situations and circumstances change. All told, this program provides listeners with a solid understanding of the standards of good behavior that lead to success in everyday life.

A long list of disjointed rules. Very basic.
Revisado: 01-12-16
What disappointed you about Modern Scholar: On Your Best Behavior?
Two things: one, it's extremely basic -- it's like etiquette for cavemen. You'll hear pearls like "don't touch a pregnant woman's stomach" and "it's okay to open the door for a pregnant woman without asking her for permission." Two, worst of all, there are no _principles_ given, it's merely a list of disjointed "things one should do". There is nothing in the way of "it's your duty to maintain the good mood of your guests, even if you are in severe discomfort yourself, because of reasons x, y and z". For a $40 (!) "book", this is just ridiculous.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Something else on etiquette, specifically in business.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I think it's the author reading. He's ok, but not professional.
