Historia
Everyone in the small town of Denton is searching for Isabelle Coleman, a missing 17-year-old girl. All they've found so far is her phone and another girl they didn't even know was missing. Mute and completely unresponsive to the world around her, it's clear this mysterious girl has been damaged beyond repair. All Detective Josie Quinn can get from her is a name: Ramona. Currently suspended from the force for misconduct, Josie takes matters into her own hands as the name leads her to evidence linking the two girls.

Great story but terrible narrator
Revisado: 08-14-23
The storyline is great. The narrator mispronounces so many words that it is distracting. When she first said, "et" instead of "ate" I almost lost it. I grew up in the mountains and only the most ignorant holler folks said, "et."

Not one of her better books.

I find it hard to fathom that having one's daughter missing makes one horny for the guy looking for her. <eyeroll>

1950s treatment of women

I cringed with how the heroine was held "hostage" by the husband she was tricked into marrying.

I love Anne Tyler!
Revisado: 07-25-19
Anne Tyler creates characters that appear so simple on the outside yet she slowly removes their layers to reveal their complexities. I am always sad when one of her books ends.
