Reads like a diary of my childhood

So much of it hit home from my handwriting to walking off by myself at a carnival when I was 8 and forgetting to tell my family I was leaving. On and on the connections go.

The book is repetitive, but I listened to the entire thing and am so glad I did. Life changing for me. I thought I was a narcissist. I thought I might be clinically paranoid. Far more likely I just have Aspergers. I'm at peace now. I don't need to change. There's nothing wrong with me. I'm just different.

I have to admit that I only made it two hours into this book before dropping it. This is very rare for me, as I tend to finish books I start.

I picked this one up because of the high reviews, but now I understand why the bad reviews are so highly rated. In the two hours I listened to I can sum up the information in two words. Work harder.

The author stated this dozens of different ways, but never offered a concrete method. He never offered a reason why the book is even called the 10x rule. Sometimes he said work 10x harder. Sometimes twice as hard. Sometimes 12x as hard.

I've listened to dozens of self-help and motivational books. This is the only one I've felt compelled to leave a negative review for. Save your money =/

I'll be embarking on the John Muir Trail in August, so when Josh came to Santa Rosa to speak I headed down to my local REI to hear what he had to say. His presentation was amusing and helpful, so I decided to purchase his book.

It's a quick read, and not at all the guide to the trail I expected. Instead it focuses on mindset, on Josh's personal battle with the trail and his ultimate victory. I highly recommend it for any hiker, especially those considering the JMT!

Others have covered the plot so I'm not going to touch on that. If you're reading this then you probably listen to a lot of audiobooks, so I'll tell you the thing that matters most.

Is this book worth your credit? Yes. You will enjoy the entire listening experience. I didn't love the narrator, but I thought he did a good enough job to bring an amazing story to life. I say amazing because I've never read anything like this before.

The originality alone would have gotten this book three stars, but the fact that I cared for the protagonist by the end and am eager for book 2 bumps it to five. Buy it. You won't regret it.

Had I read the eBook I probably would have given the story three stars. Enjoyable, but not one of those books that you'll read again and again. It's a fun post-apocalytic romp, filled with familiar tropes. You won't find any huge surprises in the story, but what you will find are good execution and memorable characters.

I had a hard time with the bewildering array of races and the strange time keeping system at first, but by the end came to understand them and found they added to the story.

So why did I rate this five stars if I'm describing a 3 star story? Because the audiobook is beyond amazing. It contains a full cast, special effects and even a professional singer delivering an absolutely haunting melody in chapter 18. I burned through this audiobook, and am still just blown away by the quality. It's very much like the radio dramas of yore, something we rarely see anymore.

Disappointing after loving GTD so much

Let me lead by saying that Getting Things Done completely transformed my life. I've used it's principles heavily over the last two years and have accomplished so much I never thought possible.

Making it All Work, on the other hand, simply rehashes much of Getting Things Done. It also spends quite a bit of time talking about how wonderful GTD is. After reading it I cannot point to a single new principle I will adopt or use.

Do yourself a favor and read Getting Things Done. If you have already read it you might consider re-reading it over purchasing this book.
