STARTED WELL, WENT SOUTH FAST
Revisado: 03-20-16
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I found the switching time confusing and somewhat irritating. Lost my concentration when a story seemed to start over.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
It just wasn't a "mystery."
Would you listen to another book narrated by Caroline Lee?
If the book subject matter interested me.
Was The Lake House worth the listening time?
No.

Historia
Follow New York Times best-selling author Mary Roach - but be careful not to trip - as she weaves through personal anecdotes and everyday musings riddled with her uncanny wit and amazingly analytical eye. These essays, which found a well-deserved home within the pages of Reader's Digest as the column "My Planet," detail the inner workings of hypochondriacs, hoarders, and compulsive cheapskates. (Did we mention neurotic interior designers and professional list makers?) For Roach, humor is hidden in the most unlikely places, which means that nothing is off limits.

ONE FUNNY BOOK
Revisado: 09-08-15
Where does My Planet rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I had read GULP and found it very informative. However, I was so surprised when I started listening to this book and broke out laughing (a little embarrassing as I was walking my dog at the time). Took me a while to warm up to the voice but once I let go of my idea of what Mary Roach should sound like, in my opinion, and let Dawe roll on, it was good. It isn't easy to find a book that makes you laugh out loud, so this one gets a big recommendation from me.

GREAT CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
Revisado: 09-08-15
Where does Last Man Standing rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Some books seem made for "listening." This is one of them. I had no problem keeping characters straight, which isn't always easy, and developed real empathy with the Good Guys and even a couple of the Bad Guys. The end is a real surprise. One of my favorite action reads.

AN INTERESTING TWIST
Revisado: 06-06-15
Would you listen to The Escape again? Why?
It is not the kind of book I'd read twice. Read for recreation, not information.
What other book might you compare The Escape to and why?
I felt I had met the hero before but can't remember when or where. The twin thing threw me.
What does Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The voices seemed to make the characters "real."
Any additional comments?
I like to listen to this type of book when I'm walking the dog or zoning out for an afternoon rest. Not too taxing to the brain but does hold your interest.

Historia
Atlanta, 1974: It's Kate Murphy's first day on the job, and the Atlanta Police Department is seething after the murder of an officer. Before the day has barely begun, she already suspects she's not cut out to be a cop. Her male uniform is too big, she can't handle a gun, and she's rapidly learning that the APD is hardly a place that welcomes women. Worse still, in the ensuing manhunt she'll be partnered with Maggie Lawson, a cop with her own ax to grind.

GOOD FOR AN AIRPLANE RIDE
Revisado: 06-06-15
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Good cop, bad cop. Not to much left to the story line after you figured that out.
Would you be willing to try another book from Karin Slaughter? Why or why not?
Probably not. I have too many unread books that I hope will have more substance.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Kathleen Early?
Narration was fine.
Was Cop Town worth the listening time?
Not really.

Historia
Charlotte Pitt’s mother, Caroline, travels with her young husband, Joshua Fielding, and his theatrical troupe to Whitby, where Dracula first touched English soil. Joshua has arranged to produce a stage adaptation of Dracula by the daughter of Whitby millionaire Charles Netheridge, but the amateurish script produces a disastrous first read-through. As tempers flare and wind and snow swirl around Netheridge’s lonely hilltop mansion, a black-cloaked stranger emerges from the storm - an eerily opportune arrival, for this enigmatic figure, one Anton Ballin, turns out to be a theatrical genius.

Not really a Christmas tale
Revisado: 01-07-13
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I bought this because of the title - it is Christmas time and I thought it would be fun to read a story around the holiday. To me, the story was a rather ordinary mystery that only in passing refered to the holiday.
I was happy when the book ended and I could turn to a more exciting story.
If you’ve listened to books by Anne Perry before, how does this one compare?
I have not listened to a Perry book before but have read a couple. This one not nearly up to the standard set by her other books.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Terrence Hardiman?
If the book was interesting.
Was A Christmas Homecoming worth the listening time?
No.

Grabbed my Attention on First Page
Revisado: 06-04-12
Would you listen to The Dreadful Lemon Sky again? Why?
No.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Sort of.
Which scene was your favorite?
Sorry. Can't bring one to mind.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not that kind of book.
Any additional comments?
This is the kind of book I listen to while walking my dog. If I miss a bit of it, doesn't seem to matter. Keeps me interested but not really involved. Sort of like TV.

Lee's surrender are devised to fulfill Lincoln's dream of healing a divided nation. But one man and his band of murderous accomplices are not appeased....

A history lesson
Revisado: 02-20-12
Although I have read history books and historical novels about Lincoln, I felt I did learn more "background" info in this book. Almost didn't order it because I don't like O'Reilly but my interest in history overcame m prejudice and I'm glad it did. Have recommended it to friends.
